Ashley uk Posted August 8, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 8, 2009 I am going on my first cruise with my mum, dad and older brother in September. It's a special holiday to celebrate my mum and dad's 25th wedding anniversary. We are traveling on the P&O Arcadia from Southampton on 20th September. I am 18 years old and was wondering what to expect from the cruise. Will there be much to do? What do they mean by formal nights and what would I be expected to wear on these nights? Also what's best to wear on informal nights? These are all probably silly questions to all of you who have cruised before, however I want to make sure that I and my family enjoy the cruise without wondering what's around the corner Thanks in advance for your replies Ashley - UK
firefly333 Posted August 8, 2009 #2 Share Posted August 8, 2009 P&O probably isnt a cruiseline you will get a lot of info for on these boards. Basically formal nights, people dress up, anything from a long dressy church dress to a very formal dress on formal nights. Informal nights, you will see pants and nice tops, but hopefully nothing like shorts or jeans in the dining room or tee shirts. You can probably get more specific info on the P&O boards. Enjoy the cruise and the food. Carry on your bathing suit in case it takes a while to deliver your suitcase.
Rare Essiesmom Posted August 8, 2009 #3 Share Posted August 8, 2009 It is my understanding that P&O is a more formal atmosphere than some others, so you will want to bring all those formals (but not 'ball gowns') that you have from school dances. I agree with the above poster that you should go over to the P&O part of this site and ask questions there. Also, see if there is a roll call for your sailing in the Roll Call section. GlendaleCruiser Posted August 8, 2009 #4 Share Posted August 8, 2009 and check the main heading under P&O. Ask the questions there and people will be happy to share information.
