Late arrival on the 1st day of an O cruise that begins with an overnight stay

My husband and I will be on the Nautica March 1, 2010 Bangkok-Beijing sailing. We will be doing a pre-cruise trip to Cambodia and will fly back into Bangkok at around 6PM on the 1st...we will actually set sail on the 2nd.

Because we are in port overnight I wanted to check if there was (or wasn’t) any mandatory check-in cutoff time on the 1st day. When I called O, I of course managed to get conflicting information from one day to the next…yesterday I was told that I needed to make sure that the late arrival information was on the manifest as otherwise we could be considered a “no show” and lose our cabin and today, when I called back with the exact flight information to note on our reservation record, I was told that this wasn’t necessary.

Being prudent, I asked that the late arrival information be at least noted on our reservation record as I don’t want to have a problem when I arrive onboard the ship. But it does give me pause when I’m getting such diametrically different answers to the same question.

Can anyone comment or share their experience regarding a late arrival on the 1st day of a sailing that begins with an overnight stay?

Thanks,

Kathleen

The front desk on the ship definately has round the clock coverage. I would not expect that a porter be there to help with the bags, however.

What would really concern me, in your situation, would be access to the ship through the customs area which may or may not be open 24/7.

It sounds like you like to have all your ducks in order, so, I'd suggest that you make sure that you know of several hotels in the port area in case you come face to face with a locked chain link fence.

At least you'll have a place to drop off your bags and have a meal.
