Cheapest way to get to My Lucaya market ?

I'll be at Freeport for a day and wanted to know the cheapest and best way to get to the Lucaya market and the beach that is near the market. We are a party of 4 adults and 2 kids aged 3 and 5. Cheapest should also be the safest and easiest way for 2 kids and 2 grandparents. Thanks so much.

Somehow I don't see how "cheapest" and "best" and "safest" go together....best and safest would be to grab a taxi...it won't necessarily be cheapest, but it will be better than trying to nickel and dime your way there

I believe what the OP is asking is out of all the safe, appropriate modes of transportation, which would be the least expensive option for their group, while getting them there with minimal hassle. (forgive me if I'm incorrect in my interpretation OP). Also, having booked excursions through the ship & then on return visits having done some independently, I have certainly found "cheapest, best & safest" often do go together. Paying top dollar doesn't always get you the best....which is why these boards are so helpful....but back to the OPs question...We just came back from our cruise & found that for our group of 9 the shuttle/van seemed to be the best option. From previous visits to this board & asking a question similar to your's, it appeared cost wise we wouldn't be saving anything getting a cab to just take us. We also didn't really see any cabs waiting. The vans were lined up, they quickly piled us in for $5. pp & added another few people & we were quickly on our way. I don't really see where a taxi would have been safer nor better, unless you were forced to wait a while for the van to load up, which we never were.

On an added not, there didn't appear to be any nickel & diming your way there anyway - not that I tried since shuttle appeared set price - but it seemed like even items at the Lucaya Market were priced fixed...wouldn't be surprised if one person owned/had vested interested in them all...saw someone who wanted a dress but not in the color that vendor had, the vendor went 2 stalls down & got it from there.

Thank you. You correctly interpreted my question. I returned back from my cruise on the 20th. Were you on Carnival Sensation Aug 16th - 20th ? I did exactly what you mentioned. Took a van for $5 pp. Yes prices in Lucaya market were fixed for most of the stuff. I did buy 2 beach backpack/towels. She initially told me $18 for each but then gave me 2 for $30. The souvenier TShirts were 3 for $10 and those were fixed price.

We were on the Pride - Aug. 14 - 21. We really didn't buy much at that market. Daughter collects magnets & son shot glasses from each place we go so that was about it. Neither Nassau or Freeport are my favorite spots but Half Moon Cay was beautiful & Grand Turk fun.
