Barb C Posted August 13, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 13, 2009 anyou watch the ship come in if you get there early? Wasn't sure if you could see the ship dock. If anyone knows, I'd appreciate the information.
Capt_BJ Posted August 13, 2009 #2 Share Posted August 13, 2009 dunno specifics of how things work in Baltimore but b4 a ship can discharge pass' there's a number of things to be accomplished. In order to ensure they can begin to unload at the time they've promised the pass' they tend to try to arrive EARLY and have a cushion. In other words a cruise ship that advertizes an unload beginning at 8:30 will typically arrive in port around 6 to 7 am. If you are there you can watch .... but 'there' probably does not mean 'in the terminal'. In Miami that might mean along Government Cut or the MacA' Causeway. In San Fran .... near pier 35 . . . Chesterpeake Posted August 14, 2009 #3 Share Posted August 14, 2009 Depending on the time of arrival, if the gates of Fort McHenry are open, I believe that would be the best place to watch the arrival. You would not be able to see the actual docking however. I've watched the cruise ships sail from the Fort. Ships pass very close to Ft. Mchenry. At first they come directly towards it. If they are going to the cruise terminal they will turn or bear to port; if to the Inner Harbor, they will turn to starboard. The actual docking might be much better viewed from E. Cromwell Street or near the Wal Mart on port Covington Drive [check a map or Mapquest].
