this might sound a foolish question i hope not.Whilst gambling in the casino wether it is the slots or the table, what is the currency one plays with?.do you have to exchange pounds for dollars or do you just buy the chips in any currency, also if that is the case do they charge a commission

Hi In the casino the currency for the slots is dollars. As for the tables I know it is dollars but not sure if they take pounds. If you have pounds and need dolars there is a machine on board the QM2 that will exchange it for you for a small fee. Also you can get an advance on your room card for a fee of 3% last time i heard do not know if it has changed. I bring dollars with me since I live in the us and play with that and use the change machine to exchange for pounds or euros if I need for an excursion if I am in England or Europe. I will be doing the British Isles on QM2 in Oct and will exchange as I need to.

Sparky. The currency used on board are US Dollars. The slots use either paper money or tokens in various amounts (based on USD) . The tables use US currency. There is a currency exchange machine in the Casino. There is also a US Dollar ATM machine that dispenses currency. You will likely be charged a fee. I don't know if the change booths do currency conversions, but the purser's desk can help with that. You might get a better exchange rate with your high street bank.

Good luck

Mike

We just returned from 24 days on QM2, and the ATM in the casino was out of order he whole time. They will exchange Euros, pounds, for US dollars, but only paper money no coins. If using the exchange currency machines on deck 2, it will take up to 10 paper bills, with a charge of $3.50, each time you use the machine. So exchange it all at once, we learned the hard way, until we read the complete directons.:o
