Mountain biking in Tunis?

We have signed up for Ocean Village's mountain biking to Carthage at the end of September. Are we mad? Is pedalling a bike in Tunisia a sane way to travel? Or should we expect heatstroke?

 

Has anyone done this trip (or anything similar) in Tunis at that time of year?

They promise the pace is easy...
