Rare Radio Posted August 29, 2009 #4 Share Posted August 29, 2009 I toured the Grandeur earlier this month, and was surprised to see that RCI has started replacing the "Credit Swipe" Safes with NEW Digital Keypad type Safes. . . Many of the Cabins on DECk 7/8 had the new safes. . .but several cabins(that I looked in) had the old ones. It appears that they may be changing the safe now as needed to the NEW style. . . . Blazesyth Posted August 29, 2009 #5 Share Posted August 29, 2009 I emailed RC about this and they told me that all were keypad safes. But obviously this is not the case as I'm read some recent reviews here and they said they had swipe safes. I'm bringing a magnetic card just in case - if its a keypad safe then it's a bonus. KroozFoolz Posted August 29, 2009 #6 Share Posted August 29, 2009 Just returned a week ago from nine glorious days on Grandeur - safe in cabin 2572 used credit/swipe card - we love that ship too!
Bell Ringer Posted August 29, 2009 Author #7 Share Posted August 29, 2009 I appreciate your quick responses! I do hope it's not a swipe safe, but just having one is a relief. I believe Monarch was the only ship we have sailed without a safe. Oh, Song of America in 1994, but that's a faded memory!
BND Posted August 30, 2009 #8 Share Posted August 30, 2009 We were in a JS in July and had a keypad safe. They have left the directions for the old card swipe ones on the door, but the safe was definitely keypad which I actually prefer as DH and I always use the same numbers for safes, so either of us can open it.
