defreeze Posted August 31, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 31, 2009 Embarkation: No problems at all - we got to the terminal at 11:15 and were onboard at 11:45. Food: Overall, the food was very good. The buffet area different stations - the deli serving hot and cold sandwiches, an Asian section, and a Taste of Nations section, which had a different ethnic food each day (including American one day!!). There was also 24 hour pizza and calzones, and burgers, hot dogs and chicken by the pool. Try the calzone - it was amazing!!! There were a bunch of ice cream/frozen yogurt machines near the pool area and at the back deck. The main restaurant food was very good - my favorites were the lobster and shrimp, the creamy sun-dried tomato bisque and of course, the melting chocolate cake. The Golden Fleece was disappointing. Although the service and presentation were top-notch, the food tasted no different than the main dining room. In fact, my lobsters in the main dining room were tastier than the one at the Golden Fleece. We originally were going to go to the Golden Fleece four nights, but we pared it down to just the one. Entertainment: I only saw two shows - the Big Easy, a big production number which was very colorful and the last night, which was the guests who won the karaoke contest. Some of the passengers were better than the show’s singers!!! The guy at the piano bar was ok, but he wasn’t a great singer. Also, he repeated songs A LOT. In fact, in one night, over the course of 2 hours, he played “Piano Man” THREE TIMES. The band in the Fireside Lounge was excellent - they played hits from the 60s, 70s and 80s. The guy in the casino sang very well and the guitar player named George was also very good. Cruise Director: her name was Jen and she never shut up. She is British or Australian and although I like such accents, she had a really grating and annoying voice. I literally had to run and find cover whenever she made an announcement. How do you hire a CD with an annoying voice like that??? The Ports: In Grand Cayman, we went on stingray/snorkeling tour with stingraysailing.com. They were excellent. Most other people were on a tight crowded boat, but we were on a roomy catamaran. Cozumel was a beach day - San Francisco beach - nothing special. Belize, we did cave tubing with Major Tom. Although the scenery was nice, the actual tubing was boring, since we were all interlocked together, so you didn’t get the fun of piloting your tube down the river by yourself. Roatan had the nicest beach - we paid $25 for round trip transport, a beach chair with shade and a welcome rum punch. They took us to Henry Morgan resort, which had a beautiful beach, a really nice pool. And a great place to snorkel down the beach. Disembarkation: A breeze. We did self-assist and were off the ship at 8:15 a.m. Overall, a great cruise. Any questions, let me know.

CMM Posted August 31, 2009 #4 Share Posted August 31, 2009 Did you book your Roatan excursion with the ship? Thanks for taking the time to post a review.
defreeze Posted August 31, 2009 Author #5 Share Posted August 31, 2009 No - When you leave the ship in Roatan, there are a bunch of little huts with people offering excursions - many are beach excursions, some are to some monkey place or the national park (gumbalimba or something like that). Walk around to see what they offer - the first guy was just offering a round trip taxi to the beach for $25 - we wnet a little further and we found henry morgan resort which, for the same price, added the beach cair and rum punch drink.
