Alessandro Zanello, 43, the youngest officer ever to be appointed captain at Silversea Cruises, will command the new Silver Muse when it enters service in April.

Capt. Zanello has been working for Silversea since 1999 and has served on all ships in the fleet. Silver Muse will be his second inaugural ship assignment; he was second-in-command for Silver Spirit's 2009 introduction.

In other Silver Muse appointments, the galley will be led by executive chef Anne-Mari Cornelius, who joined Silversea in 2005 and has worked aboard two Silver Whisper world cruises as executive chef. Cornelius will oversee all galley staff and be responsible for maintaining high culinary standards across Silver Muse's eight restaurants.

Cruise director Jimmy Kovel will be in charge of activities and entertainment during the ship's inaugural season. This includes culinary demonstrations and performances by the Voices of Silversea in the Venetian Lounge and the smooth jazz and blues entertainment in the intimate Silver Note restaurant. Kovel has worked for Silversea since 2009, aboard Silver Shadow, Silver Cloud and Silver Wind.

Other key members of the Silver Muse team include Staff Capt. Sergio Topazio, Chief Engineer Michele Barone and Hotel Director Paolo Percivale.

Silver Muse is scheduled to be named in Monaco on April 19.

Would like to do the South American itinerary, but have been on two cruises with executive chef Anne Mari. Her culinary expertise is nonexistent. The ship looks gorgeous. We are used to Crystal and Seabourn whose food is superb. Just have to decide, if the food aspect is that important.

Such strong comments regarding the expertise of Chef Ann Marie - we have sailed with her many times and would entirely disagree with your analysis. However maybe you are yourself a culinary expert which we do not profess to be. In our opinion she runs a tight and excellent department for the overall delight of her guests. We do not share your blanket view of the Seabourn culinary product.

I agree with your view entirely MJNVoyager that the subject of Food is very subjective and often leads to unnecessary arguments - my intention was only to provide a personal and balanced viewpoint.

As you are going to experience The Muse at a very early stage it would be most appreciated if you are willing to share your overall impressions of the Ship - we are not due to sail on her until August so would be most grateful to hear your thoughts.

I would think by the time the South American voyages roll around the aforementioned officers will have been replaced as it will be more than 6-months at sea.

We are on the Muse in May. SS is a fantastic cruise line and I am sure they will have selected Anne-Mari because they believe she will do a fantastic job. There should be no talk on here of officers being replaced before you have been on the Muse.
