Question about Erlangen Port near Nuremberg

Hi. The Viking Romantic Danube itinerary west bound ends in Erlangen, near Nuremberg. Does anyone have an idea of how much a taxi from the port to the Erlangen train station might cost? Also, does anyone have experience with getting a taxi early on a Sunday morning in Erlangen. We need to be at the station around 6:30 a.m. Thanks!

Taxi cost should be less than 20 Euro for that sort of distance.

I would expect that Viking could help you arrange to book a taxi for your early morning departure.

Just curious how that taxi ride and cost worked out for you, and what time they released you from the ship since we'll be doing the same thing in Dec.

Visit the official tourist website for the city of Nuremberg/Nurnberg. Look at the "Arriving" "How to get here" section. There is a section on arriving by boat with taxi and bus information from the cruise port.

Checked that, but it only gives info for Nuremberg docks, and it appears our cruise will disembark at the Erlanger dock. Unfortunately, the Erlanger tourist info doesn't include info for arriving by ship.

Sounds like some of the cruises are not even making it as far as Erlanger due to low water levels, so who knows, we might be getting off in Passau!

You won't have any problem leaving the ship early enough to catch your flight nor having them get you a taxi. There were 29 people who disembarked at 3:30 am, another 20 at 4 am, and various more every 15 to 30 minutes after that (per the 10/31 Viking Daily from the Jarl in Nuremburg). The only limitation is how long you can stay in your room, and that's a 9 am curfew. I can't address cost as we used the included transfers, but it was less than 30 minutes from the ship to the Nuremburg airport.

Thanks for the replies. Nice to know we can get off early and make an earlier connection. Taxi is going to cost almost as much as our combined train fare to Stuttgart on the ICE! :o
