Bob7 Posted June 28, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 28, 2015 An alert for those with flights in or out of France July 2-3, Air France has a notice on their web site of an announced strike by air traffic controllers for July 2-3. An earlier strike June 30 - July 1 has been averted.
davidrw Posted July 1, 2015 #2 Share Posted July 1, 2015 The talks broke up without resolution yesterday so the strike is on. Generally we don't get told until the day before which flights will be operating, it is likely that at least 40% of flights to France will be cancelled. They generally try and keep long haul running. Should be fun, we fly to Nice (from London) on Friday. The controllers are now likely to threaten some more strikes in about a couple of weeks. davidrw Posted July 1, 2015 #5 Share Posted July 1, 2015 Too bad they can't fire them like Reagan did. This is Europe, they all have their 'Human rights'. However, they can not close down the sky as there are minimum services that must be maintained in the air, unlike at the docks where striking workers can block the roads and the train lines. It is great fun in the UK at the moment with the French trying to block free movement in Europe, however last time I went on a River Cruise it was the German lock keepers on strike. I hope that the Rhone next week will be peaceful.
