Our ship departs at 5. However there is an excursion that offers the Luau with the Wailua river cruise. They go through Smiths for the Luau. I went to Smiths website and the Luau is listed later than 5. Does Smiths do a special time for Princess separate from what is listed?

The luau in question is part of the river cruise and done at lunch time. The following is from a Princess website:

"Board your riverboat for a 40-minute cruise on the Wailua River to the Fern Grotto, a legendary natural amphitheater whose famed acoustics and mystical surroundings create the perfect stage for an island favorite: the live performance of "The Hawaiian Wedding Song" by acclaimed Hawaiian musicians. Soak up the sights and sounds of this astounding site and, on your return cruise the talented Hawaiian singers will serenade you with traditional songs such as "Beautiful Kaua'i" and the "Hawaiian War Chant."

Next on your agenda is Smith's Tropical Paradise & Cultural Gardens. This amazing 30-acre paradise is a feast for the senses. It is beautifully situated in the magnificent Wailua River Valley and offers meandering paths, themed island lagoon, lush tropical gardens, recreated traditional Polynesian villages, and an orchard brimming with banana, star fruit and breadfruit trees.

A traditional luau comes complete with imu ceremony as the lava rock-lined imu pit is uncovered to reveal a roasted Kalua pig: a luscious Hawaiian tradition. Enjoy the lomi lomi salmon, teriyaki beef, chicken with long rice, salads, poi, dessert and beverages and the traditional Polynesian songs and dances that follow.

Couples celebrating their anniversary or renewing their commitment to one another are honored in a special ceremony. As the "Hawaiian Wedding Song" is performed, embrace your loved ones as you are invited to dance to the romantic lyrics of this memorable song made famous in the movie, "Blue Hawaii." A hula dancer interprets the meaning of the song through her expressive "hula hands." At song's end, each couple seals their love with a romantic kiss and then receives a special souvenir certificate to commemorate the moment.

Also included in this active, full-day tour are idyllic places to take pictures. At Smith's Tropical Paradise, you will find a Torii Gate, Aku Aku heads (Moai) reminiscent of Easter Island, an outrigger canoe and more to feature in your photographs.

And Mother Nature fills your camera lens with a variety of natural subjects including the stunning 151-foot-high Opaekaa Falls, one of the few Kauai waterfalls that can be seen from the road".

Now I'm not sure what to do. We were going to rent a car, but that looks nice too. So many decisions to consider.

We did this a few years back with Princess and it was the highlight of our trip. Hoping to get something close to this in April 2018 from NCL.

Enjoy the gift of today, tomorrow is never a sure thing.
