CruisnGram Posted February 6, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 6, 2009 Does anyone know for sure if casino tips are included in the ship wide service charge pool or are just for the casino staff? I'm not sure what you mean. If you are asking if the $12 per person, per day, include the casino staff, the answer is no. No bartenders or bar waiters anywhere on the ship are not included in the service charge pool. When you order a drink anywhere, including the casino, a tip percentage is added to that drink. As far as the rest of the casino staff...manager, pit boss, dealers, etc. they are not included in the service charge pool either. CG
M2ice Posted February 6, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted February 6, 2009 My question is, do the tips given to the casino staff end up in the ship wide pool or are they kept in pool for just the casino staff? i.e. If you give a tip to a casino dealer where does it go? To him/her, to a pool of just casino dealers/staff or to the ship wide pool?
boaterette Posted February 6, 2009 #4 Share Posted February 6, 2009 I am not sure about ncl but on Carnival they are pooled. I asked one of the staff that i was tipping and she said if it is given to them in the casino they have to pool it. But it was only pooled by each type of employee. mpk218 Posted February 6, 2009 #5 Share Posted February 6, 2009 Casino staff is not included in the ships staff Sur charge pool. The Casino employee's are a seperate company wing. They may have there own pool system but not joined with regular crew. mpk

They don't share in the daily service charge tips, so the others don't share in theirs. CG
elruth Posted February 6, 2009 #7 Share Posted February 6, 2009 CruisinGram, you wrote the answer is no. No bartenders or bar waiters anywhere on the ship are not included in the service charge pool. You meant to write ...no bartenders or bar waiters are included...right?
terrymtex01 Posted February 7, 2009 #8 Share Posted February 7, 2009 My understanding is the Casino employees are all seperate from other crew members onboard. They are literally their own group. For instance you might see someone serving you breakfast in Cagney's one morning and then seating you in the theater that same night. (Never happened just using that as an example). You will not see that with Casino staff though as they are their own "enclosed" group. That's what I have been told at least.
CRUZIN TOM Posted February 7, 2009 #9 Share Posted February 7, 2009 The casino group as well as the Spa group are 2 seperate companies. They have a contract with NCL and pay them for the use of their boat. So tip general tip fund never goes to these groups.:)

rubytue Posted February 7, 2009 #13 Share Posted February 7, 2009 Even at land-based casinos, tips are pooled amoung all dealers. I would not expect a cruise to be different. That said, I found the dealers on the Jewel to be terribly boring and it was hard to remember to tip them. Not like most dealer who interact with the players, celebrate the wins, look terribly disappointed when the dealer wins, etc.
