cabin 7117 quest

We were in the port side equivalent of 7117 last July. On entering the cabin we were struck by the background noise which we had never heard in previous cabins; however, after the first day, we never noticed it again (it was temporary, or we became used to it? Whichever, it wasn't an issue).

The balcony view is obscured slightly by the slanting of the deck/roof above - look at side-on pictures of the ship. It wasn't a major issue (at least you have nobody on the other side if the balcony partition on that side). Having said that, we have opted to avoid this cabin on our next cruise, but I would not pay a higher fare just to avoid it.

To be clear - yes, you can look out with no problem.

Hi, We were allocated 6086 in May 2014. It's similar to 7117, according to the deck plan. Initially we were disappointed, but had paid less in return for a "guarantee balcony" cabin.

My comments on the spreadsheet are "Some noise when anchoring and very occasional noise from window washing equipment which is fixed nearby, but otherwise very quiet. This is the last cabin on the port side before the aft facing ones. The balcony has a sloping metal obstruction. However it provided shelter when windy or wet, and a useful area for drying wet clothes. If hot, it would provide a shady seat. We were allocated this as part of a deal, and so were happy. However we would not choose it."

The last statement means that, given free choice, we wouldn't go for one of those cabins. However, we would not have considered a cancellation (and it's not an option from the UK without losing a lot of money!). These cabins do have some advantages, as noted above.

Hope this helps.

You make a good point about the shade afforded by the sloping metal construction. I had forgotten that, but it was very useful at times on our last cruise!
