  1. Lovely walk through a park towards the city.
  2. Thanks again. Hopefully my OH can have his Manhatten and I can enjoy my vodka martinis !
  3. Kentchris ... Thanks for the drinks menus. Really helpful. Do you know whether the bar staff are happy to make other off-menu cocktails? My partner loves a Manhatten. He was successful on getting it made on Sapphire, so I'm hoping that SoD bar staff are as amenable (and accomplished).
  4. Thanks lincslady ... I'll ask for the veggie menu on our SoD cruise.
  5. Thanks. I have registered as a veggie via MySaga. I wasn't aware of a separate menu on Sapphire. I'll look out for one on the new ship, but am happy with meals without the meat or fish if staff are ok to oblige.
  6. HThanks for posting pix of real menus. I'm almost a veggie and am a bit worried as I don't like curry, and that seems to feature in the veggie options. On previous Saga cruises I've not starved coz I love salad. Is there a self-service salad area in the buffet-type restaurant like on Sapphire? I remember a rather bemused waiter bringing me a baked potato and cheese on several evenings. Are staff open to serving just potato and veg?

  8. Thank you Mrs Miggins. All that sounds very encouraging. All our bookings on on the current ship, not Adventure. We took advantage of the registration and early booking discounts. In fact, we booked our 2019 cruise over 2 years ago. Prices do seem to have risen, so hopefully it was a wise decision. Maybe our paths will cross one day, and with Cinnamon, unless they already have on Azamara. (Our last Azamara cruise was the 2016 LCV voyage in the Middle East.) I have a feeling that you've also been on Royal Clipper?
  9. Thank you Cinnamon for all the useful info you've provided. It's greatly appreciated. It sounds as if I'll have to choose my time carefully to visit the spa area; maybe your fellow guests had found it by the end of the cruise. It's disappointing to hear that drying lines haven't been retro-fitted into bathrooms; this was raised on FB a few weeks ago and it sounded likely that Saga would add them. As we've got 3 bookings on this ship, I do hope we enjoy the first cruise, which isn't far off now. It would be lovely to cruise on Azamara again, but I fear that we are priced out. I recently visited the Royal Yacht Britannia in Edinburgh, and got quite emotional when I saw Azamara Journey alongside.
  10. We found chatting to passengers who were much older than us fascinating, and many had a true zest for life. On the 2 Saga cruises we've done, there were fewer people with mobility issues than we'd seen on P&O a few years ago. Maybe the demographic changes according to the itinerary. Whatever cruise or hotel holiday you do, there'll always be someone or something you don't like or agree with.
  11. On our first Saga cruise, we were totally unprepared for this style of disembarkation. We expected to leave the ship early in the morning and be home by early afternoon, in time to collect our cat that day. With P&O, and driving ourselves, this had been no problem. Unless someone can tell me otherwise, there is no prior warning that you may not leave the ship until almost midday, and we discovered it only the day before. The situation described above seems even worse. I do hope Saga can get this sorted out soon. The much-hyped photos of a driver dealing with a couple's luggage is also misleading, in our experience. When 4 people are sharing a people carrier, and the other couple are infirm, you have to manage your own. A bit of realism wouldn't go amiss.
  12. Sounds intriguing! I'll await your comments!! Thanks for the exercise class info. It'll help with my packing.
  13. Thanks for your prompt responses. I hope you did get chance to try out the indoor pool. Another quick question .... are there any group exercise sessions onboard, e.g. Pilates, Yoga, Aerobics, Zumba?
  14. Thanks so much for this account. I've not seen anything about the spa area yet? I'm not interested in treatments, but wonder what the indoor pool, steam room and sauna are like? On Saga Sapphire, I've enjoyed this area in the bottom of the ship, and have usually found it almost empty as the majority of Saga cruisers seemed to be unaware of it. Also, I'm assuming that the outdoor pool is not heated? I was surprised that Captain Julian Burgess isn't on board; I thought this new ship was to be "his". Is Captain Sunderland covering for his annual leave? Apologies for the questions.
  15. Did you know before sailing? Thanks for this blog; it's great!
