Progressive Cruise Check-In

We have not sailed on Princess in many years but on other lines. Our experience is that when you get to the dock you check in and when your group is called you board. Or if we have status on that line, we are whisked away onto the ship. We received an email from Princess yesterday advising us of their 'progressive check-in' procedures. If you have arranged your own transportation you board by deck and each deck has a time allotted to it. Our deck which by the way is not at the bottom of the ship, is not until 4:00 which is quite disturbing. I keep thinking I am reading this wrong or don't understand it somehow. Can someone please shed some light on this? Thanks in advance.

Ignore it.

I believe the cruise lines are trying to do crowd control at the pier and prevent everyone showing up to board at the same time. I have heard that they are not enforcing the boarding times. My husband and I are planning on arriving early for our upcoming cruise in fort Lauderdale. We are platinum members so we figure we will get on quickly.
