Muse: structures and performance

Since the new Muse has been sailing for a while now, we hope those of you lucky enough to have first hand taste of it tell the rest of us how well the ship works, what are its perceived sizes and its performance.

For example, how easy is it for those food trolleys to pass through the regular cabins from the door to the balcony? How spacious are the tubs and showers? Are the toilets the same as the Spirit's? Is the cabin ceiling higher or lower than previous ships (an inch or two makes a great difference)? Are the wall mounted televisions easy to control and giving fast information? Is the air conditioning comfortable (with diffused air rather than blowing at you and the thermostat steady and sensitive)?

We all know that the theatre is going to be single storeyed and smaller, expecting fewer people. The stage and special effects will be more limited. The important point is will there be more space between spectators such that ingress and egress will be easier? How is the sound system, pleasing or harsh?

How about the tables and corridor sizes in the restaurants? Are there enough tables for two so that they are always available (or at least most of the time)? What is the distance between tables, eight inches or eighteen inches appart in a row? Usually how long is the wait before couples get seated? How long is the wait before what you ordered is presented? A new ship takes time to be adapted, and things likely will improve in the first few months.

Is there any unexpected engine noise or vibration? Compared to other ships in similar sea conditions, is the ride smooth and comfortable or choppy and wiggling?

Thank you all for your input!

A significant number of the questions you pose were answered on "our First Muse-ings from Monte Carlo roundtrip" thread, the cabin description being covered in the posting on April 18th.

Hope this helps, I am surprised that no passengers who are currently on the Muse have replied?

If no one does - you will just have to sail on her yourself!!

Kindest regards

YES, appreciate these excellent and interesting questions about the Muse. After a great opening with lots of details from the initial sailings, things are been fairly limited and quiet. Maybe a good sign for people being too busy enjoying?

From the London/UK Daily Mail travel section two days ago, they have this headline: Silver service on the highest of seas: Sailing away on the splendid Silver Muse, where Champagne flows on tap”.

Here are some of their story highlights: There's a new queen of the seas. Silver Muse — the ninth ship in the fleet of high-end cruise line Silversea — brings with it serious levels of luxury. Guests enjoy the A-list lifestyle from the minute the ship casts off. The cabins (sorry, 'suites') are spacious and swish, each with private balconies and bathrooms, Bvlgari toiletries, plus pillow menu. Cool off on deck in the swimming pool or in one of the whirlpools while sipping a glass of free-flowing and all-inclusive champagne. A fair few opt to do just that as we set sail from Genoa to Barcelona via Marseilles.”.

A number of pictures are included. Somewhat of a "puff piece", but the writer paints an enjoyable picture for enjoying sailings with Silversea.

Maybe that's all there is to complain about.

Indeed. People only usually shout when there is a problem but keep quiet when things are great. I suspect things are being ironed out from the inaugural cruise, though there will always be problems from time to time. No cruise company is perfect, though the Muse sounds pretty close to me even if its a poison chalice to one or two.

Master Echo ....

The layout of the ship is broadly the same as Silver Spirit. Cabins are at the front and middle, whilst public areas are generally towards the rear. There are four restaurants on Deck 4, with La Terrazza and Silver Note on Deck 7. The main bar, now called Dolce Vita, is mid-ships on Deck 5 in front of the Reception and Shore Concierge desks and the Panorama Lounge is on Deck 9. The Observation Lounge, called Tor’s Observation Library, is right forward on Deck 11. Thus the ship’s layout largely follows the Spirit template.

You may wish to see images of the ship, which were taken during Voyage 6701; see the link below:

Thank you kindly for your postings. The information you provided is presented amidst a very long thread, which needs to be carefully followed. The pictures in the provided link are precious and helpful!
