graf103 Posted December 28, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 28, 2008 DH tried on a bunch of his shorts last night in preparation of our upcoming IOS cruise...and it seems as though he's grown a bit! So where is the best place to get some shorts this time of year?
cb at sea Posted December 28, 2008 #2 Share Posted December 28, 2008 He didn't gain weight--the shorts have shrunk just sitting in the drawer! I don't know where to get shorts this time of winter, unless it's online. I had a hard time finding shorts last summer!!! (At least, shorts I liked!!!!) Try LL Bean, or something like that.... keylimepie Posted December 28, 2008 #3 Share Posted December 28, 2008 Try Lands End or LL Bean like cb said...they should have khaki shorts year round.
madge57 Posted December 28, 2008 #4 Share Posted December 28, 2008 I went online and Old Navy had plenty of styles and sizes. Try them soon they come within a week.
Sassy Chassis Posted December 28, 2008 #5 Share Posted December 28, 2008 Outdoor stores like Bass Pro Shops and Gander Mtn. have shorts this time of year as do sports places like Academy and Sports Authority. Actually, here in Houston you can pretty much find shorts anywhere at any time!
GORDONCHICK Posted December 28, 2008 #6 Share Posted December 28, 2008 Departure port cities that are usually warm all year round are good places to find them as well as on line.
tmusgrave Posted December 28, 2008 #7 Share Posted December 28, 2008 I have found the best deals online. I really like JCPenny online - they have an outlet tab where I found my dh a lot of nice shorts that he will actually wear (very picky!). Also, if you have an outlet mall neaby you can usually find a lot of summer fashions there. I heard "closet humidity" tends to shrink all clothing :D That's my story and I'm stickin too it! onceagain Posted December 28, 2008 #8 Share Posted December 28, 2008 Ditto on JCPenney, I found some on clearance for my husband. I actually got them in the store right before Christmas on an end cap marked Clearance. You could call to see if they still have some left. Mississippi1 Posted December 29, 2008 #9 Share Posted December 29, 2008 I heard "closet humidity" tends to shrink all clothing :D That's my story and I'm stickin too it! I have a hard time with the dang closet humidity here in Mississippi, too! OP, as others have suggested, try JCPenney outlet online, Old Navy online, and I believe I saw some on Kohl's online just before Christmas. keylimepie Posted December 29, 2008 #10 Share Posted December 29, 2008 Oh my! I finally know what's wrong now...closet humidity! I live in the South, that's gotta be it!
klstiger Posted December 29, 2008 #11 Share Posted December 29, 2008 That is a funny question because we have been on a quest to find smaller shorts for our cruise and can not find them anywhere in New Orleans.... I went to three malls here and not one pair of shorts! Went to Dillards and asked the lady, where are your shorts? She replies we have none, its winter. My response was, well it is 75 degrees outside... We are in the situation!
tdk1938 Posted December 29, 2008 #12 Share Posted December 29, 2008 DH tried on a bunch of his shorts last night in preparation of our upcoming IOS cruise...and it seems as though he's grown a bit! So where is the best place to get some shorts this time of year? You can buy shorts @ Kohl's web site. You can also get swim wear for you. http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/mens/shorts.jsp?bmForm=guided_nav_search&SubcatFolderID=2534374752621202
Love-to-ride Posted December 29, 2008 #13 Share Posted December 29, 2008 My husband just bought four pair today off the clearance rack at Kohls. Cost for all four pair totaled $14.08. One pair was a linen blend for $4.00. My mom also bought several pair for herself today at Kohl's. Going to Hawaii in less than 4 weeks so they will get used soon. Have to love clearance racks. SoonerOne Posted December 29, 2008 #14 Share Posted December 29, 2008 The DH and I went to Dillard's this past weekend and bought 14 pairs of shorts between us, $2.99 a pair!!! I bought all Liz Claiborne and he bought the Dillard's brand, Roundtree and York. We were so excited to get such a deal. We are all set for our cruise:D
cruisegal101 Posted December 29, 2008 #15 Share Posted December 29, 2008 Try this http://www.sierratradingpost.com/d/10015_Mens-Shorts.html Their prices are terrific and they carry lots of name brands. And they have clothes for women and children.
Silvery Seas Cruiser Posted December 30, 2008 #16 Share Posted December 30, 2008 Beall's Florida is a chain of stores that specilaizes in Florida-style clothing and home goods. Heidi n Lauren Posted December 30, 2008 #18 Share Posted December 30, 2008 I just went to Target today and all their xmas stuff was on clearance and they were bringing out summer stuff. Bathing suits, shorts, tanks, etc. . . . And I am in Maine where winter lasts through at least mid April.
Liv4cruzin Posted December 30, 2008 #19 Share Posted December 30, 2008 I second the idea for Beall's. Good quality, great prices. Don't know when in Jan. you cruise; but you probably still have time. http://www.beallsflorida.com/r/Mens_Shorts/departmentproducts?top=1&major=2&minor=
Heidi n Lauren Posted December 30, 2008 #20 Share Posted December 30, 2008 you can always try ae.com - that's where i get my shorts! (target shorts are always a bit shorter than i like - especially if you're tall!) but heidi will disagree.. she's a "tar-jay" fan!
pekachryn Posted December 30, 2008 #21 Share Posted December 30, 2008 REI online has many pairs of shorts on sale. My DH wears shorts all year round here in the southwest, so I was looking for some new ones for him there today.
OceanSide Posted December 30, 2008 #22 Share Posted December 30, 2008 Humidity must be an issue up here in the northeast too. Thanks everyone for your suggestions as well. I don't have much time for shopping but I do have lots of places to look for summer clothing.
Mississippi1 Posted December 31, 2008 #23 Share Posted December 31, 2008 I don't know if Belk is a local or regional department store, but I was in there today and noticed lots of shorts on the clearance racks....as well as a few on the new "spring" racks!
