Cruiserbillyboo Posted January 15, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 15, 2017 Any comments about this port? Suggestions or ideas of things to do and see? It seems like a relatively new cruise stop, and I can't seem to find as much online, either here on CC or elsewhere, about this as compared to other Baltic ports. Thanks! :)
Danish viking Posted January 15, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 15, 2017 (edited) Legoland https://www.legoland.dk/ Jelling stenen and the viking kings http://en.natmus.dk/museums/kongernes-jelling-home-of-the-viking-kings/ Bridge walking on the old Lillebælt bridge http://www.bridgewalking.com/ Egeskov Castle on Fyn http://www.egeskov.dk/en And if you decide on Fyn then there is also the birthplace of Hans Christian Andersen with a HCA museum and his birth place. http://www.visitodense.com/ln-int/odense/visitodense-0 Egeskov is best reached by (rental) Car or bus trip. Odense can be done by train and there is at least 2 departures every hour taking 27-30 minutes. Jelling can be reached by train once every hour, travel time is 29 minutes. Legoland can be done with a short train trip to Vejle and then bus 43 (travel time 1:02) and 143 ( travel time 1:09) to Billund where Legoland is located. Thanks! :) If you want to 'do' something while in Fredericia definitely take a trip out of the town. We were there in the summer, and while the local people gave us a lovely welcome and were very friendly, there isn't much to do in the town itself. Danish viking Posted January 18, 2017 #4 Share Posted January 18, 2017 Thats also why I didn´t mention it in my post :D I did my military duties at Ryes in Fredericia back in 2007 so I have first hand experience with that town.
frederik123456 Posted February 9, 2017 #5 Share Posted February 9, 2017 It is a nice walk around the fortifications. Just to add to Danish viking's list You can go on a "Whalewatching tour" (harbour porpoise) from Middelfart (short frequent train ride away): http://lillebaelt-waters.dk/en/search/node/hvalsafari?language=en You can also visit Koldinghus castle in Kolding: http://www.koldinghus.dk/uk/ with an interesting history. (short frequent train ride) In Kolding there is also Trapholt museum for art and design http://www.trapholt.dk/

Danish viking Posted February 16, 2017 #8 Share Posted February 16, 2017 They are indeed very cute :-) but a cruiser that has been on a real whale watching might be a little bit dissapointed.

It seems like a relatively new cruise stop, and I can't seem to find as much online, either here on CC or elsewhere, about this as compared to other Baltic ports. Thanks! :) I am a little late responding to this question, but wanted to let you know that last year our group rented a bus to take us to Egeskov Castle, with a short stop in Odense, which was MUCH less than what the ship's excursion cost. The company is egeskovturist.dk - http://www.egeskovturist.dk The fee included the bus and driver - no guide. The bus was very nice and driver was very prompt. If you e-mail the company, it might take a couple of days for you to receive a response. Last year there was only 1 person in the office who could correspond in English.
