Another Transatlantic Question

We've crossed the Atlantic on Celebrity once but it was the end of April/ beginning of May. We've noticed the Riviera crossing is the end of March and we're thinking it might be a bit early to experience decent weather conditions.

Has anyone been on the Transatlantic crossing at this time who can advise please ?

It depends on what you mean by decent weather.

It will certainly be cool, you won't get much use out of the swimming pool.

I realise decent is relative.

We're from the UK, anything that's not raining and bleak is decent, although we are having a heatwave at the moment ...this is our third day of temps in the 80's F ;)

Personally, I like to feel the warmth of the sun on the old bones whilst watching the world go by :D

We crossed from NY to SOU on the QM2 in late April and left NY in gorgeous sun, hot and then met fog which almost lasted to Ireland. It was very cool on the balcony but with a warm blanket and a warm drink listening to the foghorn sound of QM2 and replies from others was quite nice. All other TA's (5) have been cool but sunny and easy sailing. The O route ought to be fine given the southern latitude, but the sea gods control the weather!

Our second TA was MIA-BCN on Riviera Apr 1-15 2015. Seas were fair to rolling, cool and mostly sunny & windy. A trip on the upper decks required coats & hats (jammed tightly). Really a comfortable trip but certainly NOT the Caribbean (which we dislike having lived in the South USA).

The high winds made the Country Faire Day an extra challenge for crew and passengers but everyone seemed to have a great time of it. I did feel for the Health Spa girls in the pool in their scanty bikinis tho'. :D

We're already booked on Riviera TAs this and next November. The least enjoyable part of sailing East is the loss of an hour almost every other night...

Oh, do enjoy Gibraltar if you haven't been there before. Heaven only knows what it'll be like once the Brits leave the EU and Spain adds to the pressure to take back the Rock. We've Swiss friends who swear the Spaniards will actually clean it up considerably.

Ok so we've almost decided to take the chance  now then, ... We've had the 7008 B3 extended balcony before and loved it and have a hold on 7009 for the March MIA-BCN.

1. Have we chosen the correct side of the ship in the event of there being any sunshine?

2. Would we be better having an extended B3 that has two full side partitions for a T/A?

All opinions really gratefully received, thanks :o

The seas will be what King Neptune & Mother Nature decide they will be

Take meds with you if you think you will suffer with the motion of the ocean

I do not care for the 2 sided balconies but others love them

If you like the location go for it

enjoy
