The Phoenixx Posted October 26, 2016 #1 Share Posted October 26, 2016 We are cerebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary and we will stop in Catalina and Ensenada in January. What are some fun things to do there that I may have missed out on previous trips? We have been to the casino, and kayaking. (With my Daughters not my husband) But I wanna do something super fun and exciting. There will be another couple joining us for the cruise, so I would like some ideas to toss around to them also. Thanks
Viv0828 Posted October 26, 2016 #2 Share Posted October 26, 2016 We rented a golf cart and drove all over the island. Not exciting but we had a good time. Remember, the weather in January can be overcast and chilly so take that into consideration. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
The Phoenixx Posted October 26, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted October 26, 2016 Yeah, the beach didn't seem like a good idea or snorkeling. I've seen a lot of videos of people enjoying the city in golf carts.
cindsue Posted October 27, 2016 #4 Share Posted October 27, 2016 We had so much fun riding around in golf carts! It was quite the adventure! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Rosefloater Posted October 27, 2016 #5 Share Posted October 27, 2016 We like to play a round at the mini golf. Takes about an hour. Go up to the Botanical Gardens (take the trolley up and either walk back down or take the trolley). Go to the Wrigley Memorial for great views. The Phoenixx Posted October 27, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted October 27, 2016 I think we can get a full day with the golf carts and the botanical gardens, and maybe even parasailing. Has anyone been? It looks like the Carnival price is better than the Parasailing Catalina price.
mechomper Posted November 8, 2016 #7 Share Posted November 8, 2016 There is "the Amazing Race" Catalina that you can do with the golf cart. You solve puzzles and learn facts about Catalina.
Rosefloater Posted November 9, 2016 #8 Share Posted November 9, 2016 I think we can get a full day with the golf carts and the botanical gardens, and maybe even parasailing. Has anyone been? It looks like the Carnival price is better than the Parasailing Catalina price. Why spend the money on a golf cart just to park it at the Gardens. Just hop on the trolley for about $5. xlxo Posted November 9, 2016 #9 Share Posted November 9, 2016 Was on HAL a few months ago... did the walking tour... I was prepared for the heat and loved the stories as we explored the shops and residential areas. Others had problems with the heat. did the glass boat... the boat didn't go far.... my tender went out further. I skipped the fish food and looked over the adjacent windows. did the eco bus tour to the airport... it was long and bumpy. Saw a few bison's on the trip. If you look on YouTube.... you see a few vids on what to see on these tours.
SoloCruzr Posted November 20, 2016 #10 Share Posted November 20, 2016 If Zipline is your thing, there is a legit zipline in Avalon. Not sure if this excursion is offered on the ship. If not, google catalina zipline. There is a golf course as well.

AmberCascades Posted January 8, 2017 #19 Share Posted January 8, 2017 The first time we went we did the Casino tour and wandered around on our own. The second time we did the food tour. It was a lot of fun and we learned a lot about the history of the island. The food was excellent as well.

The Phoenixx Posted January 15, 2017 Author #21 Share Posted January 15, 2017 Back from Catalina Island Nice. How was the weather? I read on some other thread that they no longer have lobster on elegant night. Well except for a surcharge. Is this correct?
