When we were on Allure, I remember a Caribbean steel drum band. There may have been other types of music too.

Yes, and if I recall, the steel drum band begins playing at around noon-ish. We're usually out there beginning around 9am or so, and from that point until the band comes on they have pre-recorded music playing at the main pools. From my experience this is usually upbeat dance-type music as opposed to something more tropical, but that may be to try to get everyone to wake up and drink. The Solarium, on the other hand, has quieter music playing, so it just depends on what you're in the mood for.
