Confused about MSC Embarkation Ports

I am looking at a cruise next Summer and it looks like embarkation is allowed at any of the ports on the itinerary.

For example, the itinerary below. It looks like I can go from Genoa-Genoa, or Valencia-Valencia, or Marseille-Marseille, etc.

PORT ARRIVE DEPART

1 Genoa, Italy 6:00pm

2 Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy 7:00am 5:00pm

3 Palermo, Sicily, Italy 9:00am 3:00pm

4 Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy 9:00am 6:00pm

5 Palma de Mallorca, Spain 3:00pm 11:59pm

6 Valencia, Spain 9:00am 4:00pm

7 Marseille, France 1:00pm 8:00pm

8 Genoa, Italy 9:00am

Am I looking at this correctly? This is a really great idea IF I am reading this right.

It's pretty much the norm with MSC, which is great as it allows you to make your own package with flights from your local airport etc :)

So true!!

I'm excited to know about this and am surprised other cruise lines are not doing this.

Check the prices very carefully. I wanted to do a western med cruise that was a circuit

Genoa

St. Tropez

Palma

Mahon

Olbia

Salerno

Genoa

I had wanted to embark/disembark at Salerno as this fitted with my DW holidays.

MSC said yes it was perfectly OK to do this and the price would just over £4000 for two guests.

However if I delayed embarkation by 1 day and embarked at Genoa the price was £898 for two guests. that was the price I paid for a seven night cruise although I only stayed on board six nights as we disembarked at Salerno. We got no reduction for the night we didn't have, but I still saved well over £3000.

They use pricing like that to force certain countries to use certain ports as their embarkation/disembarkation points.
