Rare pierces Posted June 5, 2017 Author #7 Share Posted June 5, 2017 Every year around this time, I succumb to the urge to drag out the tripod and venture into the back yard to see what nature and our limited gardening skills have put on on display. We planted a Hibiscus in a large pot in the yard a couple of years ago but the drought and a faulty dripper conspired to stunt its growth to the point where it had never bloomed. This year, the return of rain and a new dripper have made it happy and it has produced some beautiful orange blossoms to celebrate better times. This was shot early in the morning just as it was starting to open for a day of tempting passing insects by flashing its private parts. Flowers are naughty that way. zackiedawg Posted June 5, 2017 #8 Share Posted June 5, 2017 Lovely flowers, macros, and wildlife so far. I'm late in posting these - I did get out on Monday the 29th for some local birding and wildlife...here are a few: This is an angry eastern screech owl - he was displaying his ear tufts up high and putting on the peed-off eyes at a cardinal who was getting too close to his nest hole: A halloween pennant dragonfly perched on the end of a reed: A cattle egret cruising by in overcast light: Godzilla closeup...at least our miniature version of Godzilla, the green iguana:
