Newbie - Hair Straightners question!

Hi all

Im very much looking forward to my first cruise departing Marseille on the MSC Preziosa on the 20th May.

Im taking my Mum as a gift for being such a fab Mum.

we are both very excited and can't wait!

I do just have one question regarding hair appliances, is it correct you aren't able to take your hair straightners on the ship or any other heated hair appliances?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Here is the official wording from the small print at the back of the brochures

By my definition hair straighteners are heat generating devices.

It's a fire safety issue.

My girlfriend was able to bring her hair straightener onboard MSC Divina all 3 times we've sailed the Caribbean. We were told that it must have an auto off feature which hers does,,,,:)

I used my Ghd straighteners on divina, preziosa and Fantasia, never had a problem. Just remove uk plug adapter and us e the European plug socket

Since this is your first cruise, I think you should know that you will be in a very humid climate when aboard a ship with lots of wind when on deck. You can straighten you hair, BUT, if it is anything like mine, the straightening won't last at all - maybe 15 minutes to an hour or so as long as you stay indoors. Up on deck, forget about it. For this reason, I just rely on a blow dryer, barrel brush and anti-humidity hairspray when cruising (and even that doesn't help all that much. LOL!)

I always bring my Chi onboard, but I don't always use it, as the above poster said, it doesn't last long due to the wind and humidity. I've learned to go with the flow...crazy hair and all :D

I brought mine on board. I also have a heat resistant pad I lay mine on, inexpensive and keeps me from burning up stuff.

The blow dryer was in the flip down drawer of the desk.

I always take my hairdryer, straightener and curling wand and never once had a problem.

I have called MSC and they confirmed no heated hair appliances will be allowed on the ship, and have said if any found during scanning they will be taken and destroyed!
