Ya, I would not like that ! I think Gate 1 is sort of like that? No choice for appetizer, starter and dessert , but three choices at least on main entree. I’m beginning to like Grand Circle even more!

I read with surprise about ( most) German river cruises not including alcohol. I am of German ancestry and in the US where I grew up ( WI) Germans were known as big drinkers! 😆

Thank you. To me then, the main difference seems like smaller and planner cabins and that wouldn’t bother me if there’s a huge price difference. This is a first time I heard anyone refer to 4 and 5 anchor ships -could you explain ? Is one just smaller than the other?

I don’t think Emerald prices are as low as the others.

I saw these lines listed as budget river cruise lines. Do you agree? CroisiEurope, Emerald, Gate1 and Grand Circle. We loved Grand Circle ( except would’ve preferred a queen bed), even more than Viking. And we liked it about as much as AMA and found it pretty comparable. I suppose the furnishings weren’t quite as upscale, and the wine maybe a tad bit better, but other than that didn’t really see much difference.

I didn’t know of Amadeus. Doesn’t AMA ( Waterways) stand for Amadeus?

Has anyone done a Venice to Milan itinerary? It doesn’t mention bussing but seems there would be a lot of it?

Sometimes I like sitting with other people at lunch or dinner on a river cruise and sometimes I don’t want to , but on Viking my husband and I didn’t have that choice. We were always with the other people unless it was breakfast, when not everybody ate at the same time and there was room to spread out. I don’t think there were any two-tops. Or even four- tops. So my question is -which lines give you that choice?
