  1. What kind of info are you looking for? There are a lot of differences to consider between the two options, flight/hotel costs, taking kids out of school before/after the holidays, what the weather is like at home during your vacation, work schedules...?

Or do you just want us to pick for you? If so, the second one - I flipped a coin.

***Edit*** I see you posted a response above before I replied - they would both probably have the same amount of kids, unless the week in December abuts the US Thanksgiving, then I could see more parents pulling kids out of school around then.

  2. Yeah, probably. I was used to NCL's policy and was surprised at Celebrity's policy ... "pay more and get this stuff free" ... but in the end it's pretty much the same thing. You pay more to get a beverage package.

In both cases it's a discounted price, although I wonder if anyone ever really buys the NCL beverage plan at $89 per day.

Probably only the third person in a room of young adults who are on a fun party vacation. But they'd likely split the cost of the room and one full package between 3.

  3. Interesting the boat sailed with unaccounted for luggage. A plane would never do that. I do understand they are dealing with significant amount of pax, but if you fail to check in through security, that plane will not fly until your checked luggage is off of it for security reasons.

  4. I don't mean to be rude, but what was the purpose of this post?

You say it is for new NCL cruisers, but this has been beaten to death here many times, hence why a very basic search (or even a cursory scan of the first few pages) would reveal a dozen other threads exactly like this.

If you think new cruisers would benefit from this, why didn't you search it first like you believe they would?

  5. My reply from NCL...

This brochure is currently out of stock. Please complete the form below and we will mail the brochure to you as soon as it is available. In the meantime, please enjoy our digital version.

Do you have a link? They only offer the generic brochure to me.

Webpage is also half Chinese to me, but that's another story...

  6. That isn’t an outside smoking area on Escape. There’s no smoking anywhere on the Waterfront on that ship.
My apologies on the misinformation! Escape was 2 years ago, BA only 8 months, must have melded the two together.

Personally I'd avoid those balconies in general anyways, as I prefer my balcony to be a quiet getaway from the other people onboard. On BA, that was a rowdy bar!

Can't wait to see all the details in Bliss.

  7. 1. I agree with setting up limits on his card - can be done at Guest Services. Give him whatever you're comfortable with and let him know his limits - when it's gone it's gone!

    2. Sign him up for the kids' club - they usually have computer and video games that are open for free play sometimes. May help with the gaming budget! I've also seen Wii games on the big screens occasionally - keep an eye out in the dailies!

  8. No great loss... We had a reservation at Bayamo on a recent Escape trip but when our group of 5 people read the menu nobody could find a single item that they wanted to order... Everyone decided to give it a pass; It was no surprise the restaurant was almost empty. Ocean Blue on the Getaway has a far more appealing menu hence it always being busy.

All the space on ships needs to be put to productive use..

I have to say, I very much enjoyed Bayamo on my Escape 2015 trip.

  9. Having just disembarked from the Harmony, I'll agree with you on the RC pools (albeit on a different class ship). But man oh man, did I ever miss the ocean while on that ship.

Give me the Waterfront, the Observation Lounge(s), and all those public areas with big glass windows looking outward for an itinerary like Alaska.

And the DBH... best "brew with a view" at sea, not even close.

The Waterfront and being close to the ocean is what is keeping me on NCL for now. Every other ship I looked at just didn't do it for me...

  10. I know. I think that they will love the bliss. Jamie's parents might not like such a big ship but that is something they will have to deal with if it is for the whole family. You are going March 2019 Sandy? We will be planning hopefully January 2019 for that one.
We are doing Jan 2019. Only problem I see with the epic is no Waterfront. It's my favourite place on BA/BA+ class ships. During the day, it's practically empty - could be a selling point for Jamie's parents?

  11. Like the others above said, the room lacks a sofa, but the balcony is large enough for 2 chairs, 2 loungers, and a table. I was assigned the 9th floor version on the Escape and my only issue was with the automatic door. Make sure your balcony door is kept closed if you are expecting anyone else to come in! The automatic door timing is quite long (understandably, of course) and of course the wind tunnel created is pretty severe.

Also, be aware if you are coming in/out when the other person is sleeping or changing, you are putting on a 1 min 30 second show to the whole hallway - the door being open does display the whole room.
