  1. Maybe I'm a prude, but my college-aged kid wouldn't be shacking up with her boyfriend on my trip anyway, especially when I'm not even sure how steady the relationship is. I mean, obviously kids do stuff like this, but it's hardly appropriate for a family vacation. Yeah, I guess I'm a prude. Whatever.

Guess it's a good thing she's not your kid then?

Different strokes and all... As far as I see it, they are adults, they can do what they want. If I'm paying for a cruise and I don't want them to share a room, that's my choice. If they want to come along and pay their own way - that's their choice.

Lucky for them, the OP wants to pay and is understanding of the fact that they are adults!

  2. With number 1, you may be SOL with trying to upgrade both cabins. My guess is you are looking for a balcony bid/upsell? I believe if you win a bid, it's more like a guarantee cabin. So both cabins could bid, but you would still likely end up in two unsold rooms that are not near each other. There are a lot of balcony cabins on a ship! If the adjoining cabins are important, you may be best staying where you are.

Keep price watching though, you may be able to upgrade yourself for free or cheap and pick the rooms that suit you best!

    Have a great trip!!

  3. Just booked the Thermal Spa pass.

On the receipt for the start of a he pass on embarkation day it includes a time. In this Instance 17:05, does that mean I can not use the spa before that on the first day.

    Any comments welcome

    Thanks

I THINK (I'm not sure) that it's because the spa is open for tours the first day until then. I've seen lots of tours on YouTube and there is never anyone relaxing in there then.

It makes sense to me, because that is how they sell the passes, either for that cruise or a future one.

I think they lock it down to keep the riff raff out after sail away.

*please note I was joking about riff raff[emoji57]

  4. My tradition on every ship I've sailed is a glass of sparkling wine every night before dinner. Usually I use it as my quiet time alone to just watch the waves go by!

I also refuse to use the elevators (in order to work off all that wine and food). I've only ever taken 2 elevators on 10 cruises, once on carnival when we were FTTF and being escorted to the priority tender loading (down 2 floors) and had to stay with the group, and again on carnival when I rode the glass elevators in the atrium all the way up and then all the way back down (like an amusement park ride, lol).

  5. I sailed the Escape last year and LOVED what I did at all the ports. You will have a fantastic time on board too!

St Thomas - VI Eco Tours, we did a kayak, hike and snorkel. The two of us turned out to be the only ones (so glad they didn't cancel), and our guide was actually training a new guide, so it was two guides for two customers! Jo was an awesome guide, and tailored our historical hike of Hassel Island to exactly our taste. The new girl happened to be a Master's Program Marine Biology student and well...snorkeling with her was very informative! I would HIGHLY suggest this tour.

Tortola - It was described above as well, and I 100% second the Aristocat's catamaran trip to the Norman Islands and the Indians for snorkeling. My family vacations in Tortola and has been out on the Aristocat a few times. We went the latest time off the Escape and the new owners are absolutely fabulous! We had an amazing time.

Nassau - I've been many times, but with kids, I highly suggest the Pirate's Museum and then walking over to Junkanoo, the public beach. The museum is really neat (even for adults, I've been twice) and very well air conditioned! The public beach is not the best in the world, but there is food, drink, and chairs readily available and it is an easy walk to the port. The later departure time also allows you the ability to watch the other ships depart, which I think is fun. The beach is crazy packed at the close end, but you can always just keep walking until you find a crowd level you are comfortable with.

If anyone has any questions, let me know, I adored all the ports last year!

  6. I was afraid of that  oh well, guess live and learn. Still looking forward to balcony so take the good with the bad lol. Thanks for the info tho ;)

If you can't sleep in due to the noise in the morning, never fear! You can always take an afternoon nap on your balcony!:p

  7. I am also booked for the end of April and went with one of the angled balconies. I've heard too many stories about the size (or lack thereof) of BA balconies. I usually do my best to pick a floor sandwiched between two other cabin floors. Keeps the noise down.

I've always booked through NCL, can't complain, but not much help there.

  8. Although you are not supposed to bring alcohol on board, I have never had a problem sneaking a few nips of Baileys on board for my coffee. Just roll it in a sock or something.

While this would likely work (use a plastic bottle), I second (third? forth?) the "order the last one on your trip back to the room for the night" idea.

  9. While you could make it (and you may kick yourself if you book much later and are, in fact, off early), as the others have said, just reschedule. AA should do it without question, and the sooner you ask, the better times you will find. Why deal with the stress that final morning?

  10. OP, I can't help with any of your west ions definitively, but I highly suggest you check out the Roll Calls to see if anyone is sailing with kids on your particular sailing. You can find them specifically for each ship's sailing.

  11. Hmm....I think she wanted to know if she could bring her own....she does not want to use the one supplied. I may bring my own too because the one on the ship is not in the bathroom where you would think it would be.....it's on the vanity near the TV from what I heard. How stupid is that?

It's on the vanity, where one would do hair and make up, no? Isn't that why they call it a vanity?

To each their own, but when I travel with another person I appreciate it being where it is, as a second person can be showering while the first does their hair.

  12. Miami and Fort Lauderdale are super close together. There are a million ships per weekend departing, it's often a good place to start when options seem too many.

Consider a balcony, depending on the age of your child. It may be nice to have a place to have a glass of wine after the kiddo has gone to bed (or naps) where you can watch the waves roll by.

  13. Any chance your daughter and I share the same name? I am 100% willing to take her place and offer you peace of mind - especially if your other 2 kids are old enough to not need a babysitter (though I can probably take a night or two for a free cruise)!

    Meet you in Miami?

    :):):):)
