  1. O.K., that is a completely different thing. I am a German citizen and US resident myself, and all I have ever had to enter is my Green Card number.

ESTA is a mandatory visa pre-approval for visitors from the visa waiver countries, like Germany, that has to be completed online before they travel to the US.

Thank you, we will enter the Green Card number. It's unfortunate that the Princess rep could not be as helpful.

  2. If Mexico offers online visa, I would just get one and not worry about it. If they require something else, it might be good to call the consulate in Los Angeles and maybe get something in writing about what they require

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

The consular website says that visa applications must be done in person which is a three hour round trip without traffic. And who knows how long it would take at the consulate.

  3. We are trying to help a friend do her online check-in for a three day cruise from San Pedro to Ensenada. The website will not allow the immigration information to be completed without a Visa number. We checked on the Mexican consulate website which indicated that she doesn't need a Visa for a stay under 72 hours.

We called Princess and the rep insisted that a Visa is necessary.

We sent an e-mail to customer service and have not received a reply.

We are kind of bewildered at this point and wonder if anyone on this board has some helpful advice.

    Thanks

  4. I really enjoyed the shows on the Triumph. Were they Broadway or Vegas quality? No. But they were definitely better than the Playlist production shows you see on other Carnival ships. The shows on the Triumph still had a house band and two featured vocalists.

We agree, the shows on the Triumph were very well produced and performed. Much better than Playlist shows.

  5. We love the Splendor. The lido has a wide floor and a cover, which is really nice at night when the ship is going back up the Baja Peninsula.

The lobby has a dance floor, which has been covered up on many Carnival ships.

Too bad about Blue Iguana not being on the ship, but maybe I am the only person who didn't think much of Guy's Burgers. I thought they were pretty ordinary.

  6. We spent the night in Cabo about four years ago while cruising on the Splendor.

We talked to guest services as soon as we boarded and they requested a copy of our passports.

We booked the Melia, which was pricey, but it happened to be our anniversary night.

We took the water taxi to Medano beach and walked to the hotel.

It was a little worrisome to watch our ship sail away, but we had a very nice time.

  7. We did the AI resort two weeks ago. We took the free shuttle from the port into Progreso, which was Autoprogreso as others have mentioned. The guide on the bus mentioned that the Technotel excursion was available for $35 per person. We got off the bus in the terminal and walked to another place to board the same bus.

The Techonotel resort is very nice. The beach is kind of unique in that you can walk a very long ways out and only get waist deep.

We originally found a nice palapa by the beach, but it was too hot there for us. We found a nice table by one of the pools in the resort and spent the rest of our time there. They had a nice lunch buffet and the waiters brought the drinks to us.

Our guide Mario, was very nice and the bus took us all the way back to the ship without stopping back in town.

    We would recommend this excursion.

  8. To me, CCL is "positioning" the Carnival brand.

They know exactly what Carnival ships offer as well as every other cruise line does, including their own.

The price you pay is strictly a function of supply and demand, not of cost. That is why prices fluctuate constantly before the ship departs

I think they know that they have lost many of their old customers to other cruise lines and reduced demand, but they have a customer segment who don't mind the product they offer and the Carnival brand can still make money.

We are sailing in a couple of days on the Triumph because Carnival is the only cruise line porting in New Orleans. Carnival is no longer our favorite, but we know what to expect and plan to have a good time.

  9. I think it's Lipton Black and Lipton Green. There is some others available for. $1.95 upcharge

I hope they don't start banning people from bringing their own tea. I wonder if it shows up on the scanners?

  10. Just did a b2b in early May from New Orleans.

The shows were: Wonderful World & The Big Easy on the 4 & 5 day in the Rome lounge, & A Kiss Goodnight with the Triumph Burlesque Dancers in the Rio on the 5 day.

Also had New Wave Magic in the Rome on 5 day.

    We really enjoyed your slideshow

  11. We had some small issues, mainly caused by the communication from the internet folks to the ship people.

First off, we loved how clean and well maintained the ship was. Our last cruise was on Carnival and that ship was pretty rough around the edges.

We enjoyed the food in the buffet and Villa Rosa. There were a few items that were not to our taste, so we tried other things.

The personnel on the ship were friendly and helpful to us at all times.

We thought the sea day entertainment was a little weak, but really enjoyed the night time entertainment. The singing shows were kind of snoozers (literally) for us, but the other shows were fantastic. There was music all over the ship every night and the animation team was a lot of fun.

I guess we have to rely on the negative nancy's to scare off the folks who are on the fence about MSC to keep the prices down.

All in all, this cruise was our highest value trip that we have ever taken.

  12. We waited for the free trolley going out. We stopped at El Castillo fort and laughed. It was only a couple of blocks from the ship. We took the trolley from there to El Morro fort and then back to El Castillo. We walked through Old Town back to the ship from there. Total cost was $5/person for the entry to the two forts.
