  1. We sailed on Valor in Sept - and it took FOREVER to get off! At first we didn't worry since our flight didn't leave until 1:55PM - but by the time it was 10:30 and they were only calling zone 15 or so (our zone was mid-20's), we were getting nervous we wouldn't make our flight, especially since it was International to Canada.

We eventually asked if we could join the next group getting off, and they allowed us to, and even then it was probably another 1/2hr to get our luggage and out the terminal - it was after 11 by that time. If we had waited for our actual zone, I'm sure it would have been another hour easily.

I definitely wasn't expecting it to take that long to leave the ship. Perhaps our experience wasn't indicative of how it usually is on the Valor, but it definitely wasn't smooth saililng for us!

Thanks for this info it really helps.

  2. We have late flight and I don't really want to sit around the airport all day. I know we can store bags and look around but we've been there done that OSJ and honestly I'm pretty sure I am going to be tired (health issue). Also should we hold our bags and carry them off when we do so they aren't in the sea of bags waiting till we pick them up?

    Thanks for any help.

  3. Ha you should live where I live and you can consistently drive in your car and have an Apache, Chinook, Kiowa warriors and a myriad of aircraft flying map of the earth over your car or aircraft in formation buzz your house. A few years ago I thought we were being invaded there were so many going over my house. But I do understand it would be scary on a ship.

  4. Henry EEE tours and Magen's Bay. Sapphire beach is lovely but it's hard to get into the water (if you are a snorkler go there) and there are lots of rock mounds and the water is pretty rough. There is no relaxing in the water it's wishy washy. Magen's bay is calm and clear and better for relaxing day on the beach.

  5. I know someone who used it and they got all their money back and sent home. Oh and they cruised again with them. You see what happened was their wife had to cancel and couldn't go so he was miserable but tried to go anyway. They couldn't get their money back so he was going to try to make the best of it. And he just couldn't do it by himself. I could go by myself and be fine..but some folks can't. He was booked in a suite.

  6. This is one of my pet peeves and yes the "soft serve" on the ship is terrible. I don't eat it. Soft serve is two different kinds, one is just flavoring and ice. It's usually yellowish and sort of clear. Then there is soft serve that has actual milk and milk fat in it or yogurt. The ship ones are the first type even the one labeled yogurt doesn't have any in it. How do I know? Since it is my pet peeve I happened to be standing there when they put in the mix and saw the container. It was "flavored soft serve". I love creamy DQ type soft serve best of all ice cream, over scooped but I won't waste my time on the frozen slushy water with flavoring.

  7. This alllll boils down to one thing, parenting. It was inconceivable for me or my siblings growing up not to listen to my parents as we KNEW without a doubt that life as we knew it would come to an end if we didn't. To heck with being thrown off in Jamaica I probably would have felt like jumping overboard if I had pulled anything like that because my parents were military strict and behaviour like this, well, you just didn't even entertain. My parents never once raised their voice to any of us kids (we are all over 50 now) because they didn't have to. What they said was law and once we learned the repercussions we didn't want to have no part in them. And they always stuck to their work 100% so there wasn't ever a doubt (hope) that they wouldn't follow through.

My parents started small. If your curfew was 12:00 and I came in at 12:10 (which I did ONCE) then you knew there was no way you were ever going to either do that again or be even later.

No matter what the issue the parent is at fault in this case.
