  1. I look at it like this, if a loss of the money from a unforeseen cancellation means you won't have enough money to take another vacation any time soon then insure for it. If you can "eat it" and just be a minor annoyance then just insure for medical.

  2. We just did sapphire beach in NOvember, so if it's changed since then I can't say but when we went it was open and they had a little bar to get food $$$$ and you could rent chairs under trees, etc...It is one beautiful place but I will tell you that there is lots and lots of coral mounds and it's hard to get into the water. If you are a proficient snorkler this might be ok but if you are getting in just to float around and enjoy the water it's not easy. There is only one small area of sandy entrance in front of the bar area. The water is also..umm washy, moves you back and forth so you (I) was in chest deep water and would be pushed onto coral (green grass covered slippery mounds that rise up pretty high). The place is gorgeous though but I was wishing we had gone to Meghan's Bay. It's beautiful and sandy and calmer. It's a national park I believe and there is a small charge to enter. Hope you find your perfect spot!

  3. One more question, didn't you say the "inappropriate action" between the older women and young boys was in the nightclub? Isn't the age limit in the nightclub 18 and over? That would make them legal.

Maybe it was some young men looking for some cougar action...if everyone's legal..whatever!

  4. I didn't want quite time I wanted grown women to not rub there private parts on little boys in front of me!! That is not "nitpicky" it is DISGUSTING!!!!

Did you run up and ask those "little boys" what their ages were? I'm sorry we have cruised Liberty twice and have never seen this behavior and I am like the PP I don't worry about what other people do. Unless that party was keeping you from sleeping who cares.

Just FYI we had a Mardi Gras party too...had a good time and we don't even drink...

I'm thinking "those little boys" weren't boys...I'm sorry but it looks like you might have went looking for problems. Guess cruising's not for you.

  5. That's amazing that 100 shares of stock owned jointly can get you obc for 2 cabins.

Well if you think about it, it makes no difference than the two of us crusing separately. Most people won't share their stock accounts, that's why I don't think it's that popular.

  6. This isn't true. I have gotten the OBC and there is only 100 shares between my sister and I. Have we both gotten it at the same time? No but I read the shareholder benefit and it doesn't say that. It says there has to be two staterooms. Two in the same stateroom can't each receive 100.00 OBC no matter if you own 1000 shares. It's per stateroom NOT per person.

I could be wrong but I don't think so. Owning 200 shares isn't going to get you two 100 credits for 2 people any more than owning 100 shares by two people.

When two people own the same stock they own it equally, not 50/50. They both own 100%.

Yep just checked it, I was right.

This benefit is available to shareholders holding a minimum of 100 shares of Carnival Corporation or Carnival plc. Employees, travel agents cruising at travel agent rates, tour conductors or anyone cruising on a reduced-rate or complimentary basis are excluded from this offer. This benefit is not transferable, cannot be exchanged for cash and, cannot be used for casino credits/charges and gratuities charged to your onboard account. Only one onboard credit per shareholder-occupied stateroom. Reservations must be made by February 28, 2015. Please

Which means if there are two shareholders on the same account they must occupy two staterooms. It no where no how says anything about 100 shares per person shareholders.

Besides this fact if both names are on the stocks and one requests it under there name and then another requests under the other name there is no way for Carnvial cruise line reservations to cross reference it. They don't have access to out private stock account.

  7. So, if you are going to be cruising 2-3 times a year, are you going to be selling it and waiting for the price to drop? And I agree... between the OBC for booking on the ship and stock, it is a nice start. Have three cruises booked over the next year... not a bad investment for that :)

I don't plan on doing that little trading type thing often, it's just when I saw that (my first stock purchase) I got a bit excited to have made that much in less than 10 days so I pulled the trigger. Kinda glad I did though because it's been back down within .20 of my buy price (but I missed it). I'll keep an eye and catch it again.

Heck that pays for 2 gratuities and then some and it is fun.

  8. I feel so many people make it a harder deal than it has to be, but that's me. I bought stock for the OBC, I got that 100.00 came home, sold the stock made 240.00 profit from the sale and am waiting for a dip again. It has almost met my buy price a couple of times..just a weee bit more. I will buy it for certain before our next cruise to get the OBC. Carnival has been up the last couple of months so I can't figure where some say it's a bad investment...in fact it was considered a "buy". But anyway I use scottrade, $7.00 per transaction and the guy at the brokerage firm will take my calls and answer any questions and spend as much time as I need for my measly 7.00.

Heck we'll cruise 2 or 3 times a year now...book next cruise while on board 100.00 credit, 100 stock 100.00 credit..we start with 200.00 obc right of the bat then if we keep it and get dividend it's about 100 per year so let's see, we could get 500.00 per year just on 2 cruises..for doing nothing. Oh I put it in mine and my sister's name so her and her hubby can get the OBC credit also.

  9. I couldn't care less about tablecloths or not and we do love the new menu but looking at the new tables from that pic I see a problem, it's a table for 2 and I can't imagine where the bread basket, the flat bread and the calamari will sit on that table. They bring smaller portions when it's just for 2 but it still has it's own bowl.

You can get individual options too.

I will admit this though when we were served breakfast I ordered grits and eggs over light. We mix these together in the south, anyway I went to put my eggs on top of my grits and they slid right off onto the table (cloth) I had no problems with picking it up and putting back on top of my grits, had it been on a bare table I wouldn't have eaten it. I don't lay my silverware down on a bare table I prop it up on a plate.

As another poster said some see MDR as part of their experience, we see it as dinner and if they offered the same thing at the buffet we'd go there. We like to get on to other things but we like the food in the MDR and really enjoyed the new menus and the quality of the food from the old menu.

  10. LOL if we could sue our former bosses LOL - i have a list I want to sue then! LOL

but good luck to these greedy people on the 5 grand..hopefully a judge will say no..but then again we did give a multi million dollar award for spilling hot coffee (think 2.9 )

OK I just have to jump in here. I saw on 60 minutes about the woman who won for the hot coffee. If you saw the pictures of her body you'd be shocked. It looked like she had a bomb go off between her legs and towards the back. She was older. They found out that the coffee was kept hotter than boiling (not sure how that is but I guess like a pressure cooker) and that the temp had never been tested or addressed. If I remember she had to have skin grafts. If she didn't I can't imagine why. She was in the hospital 8 days.

I was like you thinking this was frivolous until I saw those pictures. Also the lid wasn't put on properly.

The Carnival sue'ers lol..are ridiculous. Should they deserve something, yes but nothing such as that.

Added a cut and paste :The trial took place from August 8–17, 1994, before New Mexico District Court Judge Robert H. Scott.[13] During the case, Liebeck's attorneys discovered that McDonald's required franchisees to hold coffee at 180–190 °F (82–88 °C). At 190 °F (88 °C), the coffee would cause a third-degree burn in two to seven seconds. Liebeck's attorney argued that coffee should never be served hotter than 140 °F (60 °C), and that a number of other establishments served coffee at a substantially lower temperature than McDonald's. Liebeck's lawyers presented the jury with evidence that 180 °F (82 °C) coffee like that McDonald’s served may produce third-degree burns (where skin grafting is necessary) in about 12 to 15 seconds. Lowering the temperature to 160 °F (71 °C) would increase the time for the coffee to produce such a burn to 20 seconds. Liebeck's attorneys argued that these extra seconds could provide adequate time to remove the coffee from exposed skin, thereby preventing many burns. McDonald's claimed that the reason for serving such hot coffee in its drive-through windows was that those who purchased the coffee typically were commuters who wanted to drive a distance with the coffee; the high initial temperature would keep the coffee hot during the trip.[2] However, the company's own research showed that some customers intend to consume the coffee immediately while driving.[3]

  11. BUG SPRAY!! We were at Tulum Ha (loved it very much) and it was sunny, got sunburned BUT the worst part was there are biting black flies in the middle of the sunny hot day. No mosquitoes but those flies, ugh, luckly after slappin myself silly a nice lady let me use some of her bug spray..You will be so happy you took that bug spray when you see others (me) getting bit by black flies...

Tulum Ha is awesome. We used experiencebelizetours and they have a very nice a/c bus with free water and sodas all day and great guide. The road there is bummmmppppyyyy (driver said free body massage) but it was fun (except for those bites).

I meant Altun Ha...sorry was reading some info on Tulum and got confused.

  13. We had a live band for the shows but no live music on lido when we cruised in December.. I'm surprised someone is stating that they had live music on lido as I don't know of any carnival ship that has a live band most night on the lido:confused:

There was live music all over the ship this time, last week. We went in Oct of last year and I can say there were lots more live music this go. Not that I care because we don't listen to any of them but it was noticeable.

BTW it was I who quit posting pics. I'm not mad I just quit wasting my time because of so many bashers. I spent many hours trying to figure out how to post pics. Download them from the cloud, resize everyone, upload to photobucket..all this was new and I had to learn it and then to have the nasty nellies come out in force..just not worth my time. I am sorry...Knocked the wind out of my sails so to speak.

Note to OP be prepared for the negative comments to come out from some cc'ers even if you are just trying to share your experience.

We love the Liberty in fact we are scared to cruise another ship because we'll compare it to her..but we always have a good time.

  14. Do you mean that if....by the time you sail....the taxes/fees have decreased, you will receive credit? Or do you mean you can apply for credit throughout the waiting period before your cruise, like a price drop? Because the taxes/fees on our March 2015 cruise have gone down by almost $200 since we booked it a month ago, and I would love to be able to apply for a credit!

We rec'd credit OBC for this on our first cruise. Port fees decreased and we got about 17.00 obc on our statement. I called to make sure and they said yes.

  15. I'm curious too! I booked my next cruise on Valor out of San Juan and also a hotel 2 days early because I've heard such good things. Now there are 2 posts in this thread saying they don't like San Juan! Eeek, so what's wrong with San Juan?

As another poster said there is nothing wrong with SJU, in fact we are cruising out of there in November but except for the 2 historical sites that we've seen it's really just a city and not a pretty one. Now I am sure there are areas that might be great. We rented a car and drove 70 miles one way just meandering and what we saw was blighted area after blighted area. We ate at Burger King and shopped at Walmart. I'm sure someone might know of better areas but we didn't see them..I was sad too because I booked that cruise mainly for PR. Oh and it was the only stop on the whole cruise that many guys outside the port wanted to rip us off to take us to pick up rental car. They were harsh and demanding and argumentative...all except 2 of them who were helpful. That was my experience. It was a dream destination that ended up "meh".
