  1. That is an amazing price for 4 people.  My husband and I could never imagine going on a cruise to Alaska of this length, for such a bargain!  It allows us to spend more on our excursions, upgraded dining, spa treatments, and perhaps actually gamble.  I'm purchasing gift cards through AARP to add more to the savings, since we know we will use them up.

  2. We aren't sure if it was our spontaneous gambling on our cruise in Jan. that garnered us our casino offers, but my DH and I each got an offer O1M.  Free interior room, up to $100 and $100 OBC/each. We ended upgrading to a 4K (obstructed view interior).  Room was $190/each.  I picked a room between boats on the Spirit for an 8-day Alaska cruise; the offer didn't extend to balconies as those prices stayed regular.  We could've just taken an interior and pretty much only pay taxes, etc. but we opted the 4K.  Nevertheless,  for less than $1K for 2 people on a 8-day cruise is unbelievable.  This will allow us to spend more on the cruise, so the thought will work for Carnival from us.

  3. Thanks for this post.  Makes sense to bypass Victoria and let us stay in Ketchikan longer!  The times are so short in both, that it's almost ridiculous to try and include another stop.

I'm watching it every day for excursions, since I know from the Platinum VIFP FB group, they were aware of the delays of any tour listings yet.

  4. Yes, NCL and Carnival banned bringing on water a year or so ago. Other lines still allow it.

I'm new to cruising NCL this May as I'm Platinum on Carnival and love the vibe, but figured give it a shot. I was sticker shocked at the water packages.

Carnival 12-16oz bottles - delivered to stateroom, less than $5

NCL 12-1ltr bottles - delivered to stateroom, $33.54

This is at least the NCL price for water on POA. I'm ok drinking water from the "taps", but it was still a huge surprise to me.

  5. I just got off the Breeze on Sunday. The "new and improved" app works great.

New features were just added, so on top of the $5 for the chat option and Fun times,

you can link to your folio, weather at each of the ports, also see all of the photo proofs you have taken by the Carnival Crew.

We had issues on the time it took to download on our Iphone, but Androids didn't seem to have the same lag. It is a great app, just needs some fine tuning.

  6. Oh great. Just made Platinum and now I have to worry about kids in my adult pool? This is a huge deterrent on cruising Carnival, if there is no "serenity" area. Cause some folks don't control their kids and so this just adds more chaos in areas that I want to wind down from the noise. I'm not happy

  7. Oh man, this is what all the hype was about? More jewelry stores? I guess it's ok, cause I know people like their keepsakes, but not really a game changer or make me want to cruise on the Breeze anymore than I will now. Maybe an ice bar? Haha...I know that's a stretch.

  8. Here is the list of upgrades - bummer, no Pixels noted

The following ships are scheduled for dry dock in 2017 and 2018.

    Carnival Breeze dry dock: 4/16/17 - 4/29/17

    • Routine hotel maintenance
    • Cosmetic enhancements in lounges and public areas such as new carpeting, wall coverings, tile work and lighting
    • Alchemy Bar (will replace Plaza Bar at Ocean Plaza)
    • Guy's Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que (will replace Fat Jimmy's Seaside BBQ)

  9. My wife and I have decided to do the 7 day Pride of America in April 2016.

I have read a number of posts that indicate pricing can drop appreciably nearer departure date.

We have flights booked using miles, so the week is set.

How should I navigate to get better pricing?

I'm not necessarily looking for rock bottom pricing, but something less than full retail, and early enough we are not at the back of the ship.

I'm in the same boat (no pun intended). I've been trending this cruise for a year and half and have seen a roller coaster ride in pricing. We are set for May 14-21 since the airfare has already been purchased, but I'm waiting for the last minute deal, as I've seen in the past. We are not picky about the room, since it is such a port intensive cruise; room time will be minimal.

I guess it'll be a toss up if we do get a deal at the last minute (about 4-6 weeks prior), so here is hoping. Come on $599 w/ OBC!!!

  10. Legend doesn't have all the 2.0 upgrades either. No Guys or Blue Iguana. I think Valor is coming west and Legend/Miracle will have 1 go to Tampa for the winter months and the other will go to Australia. I've heard rumors that the Inspiration will be getting moved and replaced as well.

I'm so glad that I'll get to cruise my Miracle once again. I would hate to see her leave, but I'm excited to see what has been done to her even if they didn't do the 2.0 full upgrade. I can agree, the Inspiration has been out here for quite some time and we would prefer the Imagination have the Fri-Mon route, rather than Thurs-Sun.

I can't wait to hear what is happening on the Miracle. My friends are on it this week and haven't reported back yet....

  11. I just booked a 4 day Catalina/Ensenada cruise in April. I am looking for feedback on the Inspiration. Are the ocean view rooms a decent size?

Yes, they are fairly large considering it 's an older ship.

    Are they fairly comfortable?

Yes, very well laid out with lots of closet space and bathrooms are decent sized.

What are the onboard activities like? It is an older ship but recently renovated, can anyone give me an idea of what to expect regarding the pools, adult serenity area or other outdoor seating?

Pools are limited to the main pool in the middle of the ship. Serenity only has 2 hot tubs and there is plenty of outdoor seating. Being you're going in April, the pool will probably be cold, since they pump ocean water in it. I can only remember Labor Day that the pool was warm....probably cause they added the Cheers program.

Thank you for you help with these questions.

Activities are normal for Carnival. Come with the expectation of having fun and enjoy the ship. You're on vacation!
