  1. So we just got home from our 8 day cruise on the beautiful Carnival Breeze. I got lucky that someone cancelled an aft view 8M, two days before cruising. The price difference wasn't much, so I took it. Here are some photos for folks to know what to expect from the aft view balconies. I was on deck 7 - Empress, room 7467 which is the closest to the middle of the rooms as you can be. Keep in mind we had 3 of us in the room, so this shows the setup of the 3rd bed using the sofa that normally would be there. They kept the bed made the whole cruise and it was like a brick, but my brother-in-law liked it. I didn't post pics of the bathroom or cabinets cause they were the typical. I wanted to share the balcony and room layout.

A few things to consider with this room.

    Good:

    1. The view from an aft view balcony leaving every port was amazing. Having a 180 degree view of the vista was priceless. Listening to the water rotate under the blades was soothing and visually stimulating.

    2. No wind. We could actually sit there without having our long hair in rubber bands. Side balcony rooms had significant wind to deal with, at least this cruise.

    3. 7 deck was fairly silent. No noise to report aside from a very slight almost inaudible hum from the engines.

    4. Away from the traffic of kids or people laughing and making loud noises in the hall.

    Not Good:

    1. Your neighbors have easy viewing access to your balcony; not much privacy.

    2. Careful of the sporadic soot that seems to land on the patio furniture; always take a towel and sit on that to not stain your clothes.

    3. Long walk to get to your room, but great to burn the calories.

All in all we loved it and hope these photos help you decide to book an aft balcony room in the Dream Class - specifically the Breeze.

1st View, Our balcony included 3 pieces of furniture - a chair, a chaise, and a reclining chair.

  2. There are some fair write ups here about the Inspiration and Imagination. Pretty dead on from what I read.

Yes, I take this 3 day trip a couple times a year cause it's easy to get a group of friends together for a somewhat Vegas type weekend on the high seas without the expense of Vegas - the drive, hotels, and food. This is the best bang for all of ours bucks!

You won't find many walkers, Rascal scooters, or Hurry-Canes on this cruise, so just be prepared for a more party crowd that seems to be more friendly than the cruises that last a week or more.

I cruise cause I love it and Carnival's demographic brings the fun on the ship. Leave your AARP cards at home. :D

  3.

I will find out more next week as I'm sailing again on 3/17 on the same ship and will see if they have my info stored in their computer. It would be nice if your points carry over between cruises. In that case, I'd have 4000 points for the upcoming sailing.

wow, how much money do you have to dump into gambling, approximately to accrue that much?

  4. You have to actually join the players club (it can only be done onboard, or at least that was the case back when we joined).

It took me a while to find this little snippet under Carnival's FAQ's (their search engine is pathetic).

Frequent players should check out the Carnival Players Club and enroll with the casino host to earn points and receive great benefits and rewards. Membership is free. Click here for more information.

Additional things that weren't answered yet:

    Anyone can join.

Your credits don't roll over and accumulate. They disappear at the end of every cruise. So if you're not a big gambler, it doesn't get you much. However - we have gotten some smoking good prices on cruises and usually a small amount of casino cash. Mine is usually only $25-$50 and hubby's is slightly higher. But we are not big gamblers.

Thanks for the link! I agree, Carnival's search engine is totally pathetic. I was searching and searching in every manner and got nowhere. I suppose I'll find out what I get, if anything now.

    Much appreciated!

  5. So there is nothing to fill out before hand? You just initiate your "membership" by putting your S&S card in a machine when you're ready to play?

Just making sure I'm not missing something here. Is there anywhere to view your membership or points? I know I've played on the cruises before while inserting my card, just not to the gravity of some other people and wonder if I've accrued anything to email then about before my next cruise.

  6. I wondered something similar. I have OBC because I booked my cruise on the Breeze for March 29th while I was on a cruise, so it was the promotion of doing so while currently cruising.

I see that my ES rate is now lower with a rate that is $100 less. I wondered will I lose my OBC, even though it was offered for booking while cruising as the promotion. I sure hope not...that would defeat the purpose of booking on the cruise if you lose it.

    Anyone heard of losing this?

  7. I'm just wondering what 2.0 upgrades you are saying bc from what I understand LIberty has the 2.0 upgrades. In fact I know they do. But there might be something you know that I don't.

You're right....it does. Not sure if it's the full 2.0, but they do. Like the Dream didn't get the full 2.0 - No Guy's.

I guess for the OP, just sail a ship in each class and see which class suits you best. We all need cruises to look forward to...:D

  8. Well seeming you want to leave perhaps from a closer port like Port Canaveral, then you've got some great choices. Dream, Liberty, or the new Sunshine.

If you want newer and big, then the Dream or Sunshine. If you're okay with the ship missing some of the 2.0 upgrades, then the Liberty.

Read up on 2.0, so you can decide which is right. I'm curious about the Sunshine, since it just came out of dry dock with some HUGE changes; 3 story adult only area and the newest 2.0 upgrades. I hope it ends up on the West Coast some day.

I think you will enjoy either ones, but the older ships tend to be priced a little more aggressively unlike the newer Breeze and Dream....at least that has been my experience.

  9. Are there any problems with this cabin? It is our first balcony cabin and is a double wide. It is just my DH and I travelling.

Graron, so how did you like room 6152?

I'm sailing Miracle next month in the same room with the same dynamics and wondered what you thought of the wall and the life boats? I can still change rooms, but I see that we are next to the suites which I've read can be a good thing cause the stewards tend to be top notch in those areas.

Did you take any pics? Your help is appreciated~

  10. Damn, just go the call from the upsell Fairy and I should've done what was recommended in a previous post; TAKE THE 10 MINUTES AND RESEARCH BEFORE ACCEPTING.

Turns out that the upsell was exactly what they are charging for any Jo Shmo' to book the balcony they upgraded us to. I'm so upset with myself, since I've been watching the fares everyday and seeing if I would be cashing in on my Early Saver with perhaps some OBC....so much for that. I'm kicking my self. Never again will I agree until I check the prices....
