  1. I wish Carnival would publicize this already. Seems that bookings are low, specifically to my cruise date on the Miracle. Tons of rooms still available. Perhaps if they released the info, more people would be enticed to reserve.

  2. This cruise is the best bang for your buck for a Fri-Mon weekend getaway out of LA, which there is only Carnival or Princess. hence why I do at least one a year, $275/per person? Sign me up!

I can't even go to Vegas for $275 for the weekend! I'm so glad to see they offer the Cheers program now on this cruise, which is always the only thing to show up on my Sail & Sign card on Monday morning; booze. Vegas doesn't look as enticing anymore.

Options! I love it. And if I want it then I suppose an up charge is fair. I can say that I never leave a cruise hungry....:p rather with a new notch in my belt.

  3. We started cruising in the 80's on the Carnival Celebration, she was 6 months old at the time we had a inside cabin for 7 days out of Miami, our fare for 2 was $2,000.00. We just got off the Carnival Freedom for 8 days inside cabin and paid $1200.00 for both of us. Has the on board experience changed in 25 years? Has the cost per day gone down? You betcha. What else costs 40% less than it did 25years ago?

I was thinking, mortgage, utilities, gas, food and other stuff in everyday life can cost more than that for 2 people than being on vacation! What a bargain. Even some of the 7 day cruises are less than $500/per person!

I wonder if I can live on a Carnival ship for $2,000/month?? Not bad, if you ask me

I've priced the other cruise lines and I suppose if I want to pay double, then I would expect more, but Carnival does have the best energy amongst people cruising, by far than other lines.

  4. When I go to print my cruising documents, It shows up on the 2nd page "invoice" under itemized charges. It lists both my OBC's on separate lines, but with the totals to the right.

If it doesn't show all of your OBC on that 2nd page, then I would call Carnival cause mine is listed.

  6. The FCC no longer exist. What you do now is book onboard (assuming the ship as a future-cruise desk) and receive an OBC for that cruise. You will also get two Friend/Family OBC "passes" that allow a friend/family to purchase the same cruise and they will get the same OBC as you.

Catch: They must book within 60 days of you, or they get nothing. Learned it the hard way with my family on our Breeze cruise.

  7. So does that mean you can walk from the ship on the dock to Old San Juan? We will be in port from 7am- 2pm, are shops open that early? How far is the walk? How long will it take?

Why shop? If you're in a time crunch and stuck walking, I would at least make sure to see some of the cool history of Old San Juan and take a tour of El Morro. I would Google the hours and see when they open.

  8. To avoid confusion, the payoff date is July 29th. Carnival had a special when we booked that we would not have to pay off until 30 days prior to sailing, which was a bonus.

As for how we split the cost, we did divide the total cost by 4, so the prices are higher for the 1st and 2nd, but then the 3rd and 4th are lower. Seems we can drop her and probably have to pay a little more, if she doesn't cough up the cash. We've given her an ultimatum of July 26, so if she flakes, it gives the rest of us time to correct the room occupants.

I guess those of us that had the initiative to pay have learned that this person is not to be asked to sail with us again.

Thanks for all the input! I guess I really got people wondering.:D

  9. Thanks for the inputs. I guess we have come to a consensus amongst roomies to make sure to pay her way, if she doesn't cough it up when due. We have another month+ to hopefully have her pay her part of which we have already put the fear of leaving her on the dock.

Lesson was make sure to be selective on who you decide to bunk with. Choose friends with $$ and don't tend to be flakes.

  10. So I'll try to be brief. There are 4 of us booked for a 3 day Carnival - Mexico cruise. Our final payment date is Jul 29th (30 days prior to sail payoff - part of fare promotion at the time of booking)

3 of us are almost paid off, but we have one friend lagging on getting payments in. We fear she may not have the $$ by the due date. Does anyone know what happens? The 3 of us still want to go.

I saw the cancellation fees listed, but it didn't seem to answer my question. Any input is appreciated

Does anyone have the Cliff Notes version of this?

  11. I never cruised on the Breeze so I'm interested to know this, does the Breeze have balconies at the very front of the ship? To me it would be too windy to enjoy while the ship is in motion.

Yes, it was extremely windy and she had room 7210 which was the first balcony room from the picture walkway balcony. Every time anyone came through the door, the wind would slam the deck door against their head board. They complained about the wind, no lights, and the slamming door and they got an OBC that she seemed happy with. I'd say avoid any of the front balconies on Breeze. We could literally feel every swell bashing on the bow in her mattress like a vibrating bed every 30 seconds or so. We may have had a strong swell, but it kept them up at night. Better to go mid ship and avoid the forward balcony rooms.

  12. On the Breeze my sister had a balcony room under the bridge, which she said never again. You can't have your curtains open at night if your lights are on inside. Also no balcony light is allowed at night.

A few restrictions that were imposed to her, which she was ok with, but will now go with picking her room in the future, rather than the GTY.

  13. Another option for making reservations on the Breeze was as soon as you walked in to the atrium upon boarding the ship by guest services, there was a Carnival representative with the ornate Italian table with wine bottles, red and white checkered table cloth and plastic grapes taking reservations. We did it as soon as we walked on, cause when we went, we spoke to a few people that couldn't make reservations cause it was full.

And lunch (free) does not compare even remotely to the dinner. One word for the dinner................ BOMBDIGGITY!!

  14. Looks like they are still locking in dates, but it'll be on the Miracle. We are excited for the new port of Mazatlan! I'm glad they will be doing these again in the summer. It's when the water in the Pacific finally starts to warm up!

  15. I don't mean to be disresepctful but to hear people in Florida whine about not having a ship leaving for longer cruises out of Tampa does not garner symoptahy from me. If you live in Florida you can easily drive to the other ports. You get cheaper fares then others who have to sail from other ports and yet you still complain. I understand you may live close to the port but you can easily reach other ships where it is not so easily reached by others. Instead of complaining please take the time to realize what you have as opposed to what others have.

Floridians are spoiled. I need to call the Waaahhhhmbulance.

  16. There is definitely something up with the Miracle. I tried running an open search just with Miracle and March 2015 through September 2015, and it didn't have itineraries for every week.

It was one week on and one week off. I thought I would see Hawaii or Alaska, but nothing. Plus their website is having issues with room identification. Some of the room numbers on the drop down don't even match the boat map per forward, mid or aft.

  17. I'm torn....They just changed my March 21st sailing to 2 PV, 1 Cabo. Then I noticed they added more dates in April to include Mazatlan.

April is cheaper (consideration) and when I called, they said I could change my date, penalty free, but I had to do it today.

I don't know if I should change it....

What's better? 2 days in PV or an addition of Mazatlan and 1 day in PV.
