  1. I really believe you will enjoy Royal. I am a very picky eater but have enjoyed the meals on Royal and Carnival as well as the other ships we have been on. There is always somewhere you can find something good to eat.

Whatever you decide, I hope you have a wonderful cruise.

  2. When we go on our cruise in April, I will be using a mobility wheelchair. I wonder if anyone who has used a wheelchair or scooter has parked at Park N Cruise or Galveston VIP Parking QUOTE]

BTW: VIP is a little closer than PNC. The entrance to VIP is right on the corner and PNC is around the corner and depending what category you buy your car can be down the alley a ways. We booked indoor so we where just off the street a little. But PNC had outside parking slots all the way down the block. I know that might be hard to visualize but if you Google earth it you will see what I am talking about. If mobility is a real concern then go with VIP.

Thank you for your info. We have actually parked at both places so know what the layout is. We have VIP booked this year. I was mainly wanting to know how difficult it would be to get to the terminal in a wheelchair.

    I appreciate your help!

  3. When we go on our cruise in April, I will be using a mobility wheelchair. I wonder if anyone who has used a wheelchair or scooter has parked at Park N Cruise or Galveston VIP Parking and rode in them crossing the street. Did you have any issues going across the railroad tracks? We will be going on Liberty of the Seas.

I posted this on the disabled site and did not receive any responses so I thought I might get some help on this one.

    Thank you for your information.

  4. Dang, guess I should have put on my fire suit. Like I said this is far from normal treatment on Royal Caribbean. I did express my dislike on board but the service only got worse, not better. I have never sent a complaint to Royal and had a wonderful cruise besides my MRD experience. I did not express all that happened just a few things that a felt didn't need much back story. We were only requesting the service we have come to expect without having to beg for it. Did I say it ruined my cruise, Nope sure didn't.

Sorry but I don't feel I should have to defend myself and I am not going to. That being said we get better service at Olive Garden! I know don't cruise go to Olive Garden

Sad to see the direction Cruise Critic has gone, people love to sit behind a keyboard and throw stones. Thanks Cruisenfever for the info. :D

It seems that people act like this on all boards including Facebook. They don't know how to be kind any more. It is a sad state of our world I guess. People should just not say anything if they have to be mean or cruel.

I hope you get a response from Royal!

  5. I'd say that $194 (including tax) is sky high for Commodore. That is what I have booked at this point. I am calling Gaido's next week to see if they are really booked up as shown, or if it's the 2 night minimum thing. Thanks for your comments, Tammy.

I hope you are able to find something reasonably priced. Another thing is that people say sometimes if you call you will get a better rate.

    Have a great cruise!

  6. When we go on our cruise in April, I will be using a mobility wheelchair. I wonder if anyone who has used a wheelchair or scooter has parked at Park N Cruise or Galveston VIP Parking and gone across the street with them. Did you have any issues, if you did?

    Thank you for your information.

  7. Some of the hotels that say they are booked up may have a 2 night requirement. We booked our room for April 16th as soon as they made reservations available. At that time it was $83. Now it is $238. They seem to go up the closer it gets to the dates you want. It used to not be that bad but we may have to start staying on the other side of the bridge if they keep going up like they have been.

  8. Please don't apologize! We have been on nine cruises and I get excited every time. We have one coming up in April and another one in April 2017. In 2017 we have booked a grand suite. We are very excited about that.

Have a wonderful cruise and enjoy your excitement.

  9. We had heard such great things about Princess so a couple of years ago we decided to try them. We were very disappointed. I guess we went in anticipating too much. They were o.k. but we didn't think they were any better than Carnival.

Royal is our favorite and we have been on 4 different lines. Maybe if you don't go in expecting too much, you won't be disappointed but then again different people enjoy different things.

We haven't been on the Oasis ships but would love too. We plan to go on Liberty in April. That will be our largest ship yet. Can't wait.

Anyway, hope you have a great cruise!

  10. We have used Park N Cruise twice and they are great but if you want to get a little closer, Galveston VIP Parking is right on the corner by the red light. All they have is inside parking. We used them once when they were owned by another company.

I have booked with VIP Parking for our cruise in April. We prefer being a little closer since I have mobility issues and this time I will be using a wheelchair. It just seem easier.

  11. Carol, EZ lite was one of my choices. I went with the Geo Cruiser and have taken it for test runs. I like it and it will make a world of difference.

    Thank you for the info.

    Carol,

I took the chair on a cruise in September and have flown with it about 5 times already. In general, it worked really well. It has great clearance and power for the gangways and folds up really easily. Some of the drawbacks are that it is very low to the ground, which I don't understand, and you really need to give yourself time to get used to the controls, which are very powerful and the front wheels may sometimes take you somewhere you don't expect when going down a steep hill. You may need to fold it up to get into your room. The turning radius is such that it is hard to get a good, straight in shot to your door way if the hall is narrow. I had an accessible room. One thing that was kind of nice was that I didn't have to park my scooter in the dining room as I could just drive straight up to the table.

I appreciate you letting me know this. Since I can walk short distances it won't be a big issue for my husband to fold it up to get in the doorway.

    Thanks for your help!

  12. Zellalamb,

I have a question I just though of. Were you in a handicap cabin or a regular cabin?

The reason I ask, in April on our cruise we have a handicap cabin but in 2017 we decided to try a grand suite which is not accessible.

If you did not have a handicap cabin, did you have any trouble getting your wheelchair through the door? I am thinking that my husband may have to fold it up before it will go through the door.

Thank you for any info that you can give me.

  13.

However, you might consider an alternative. I have a new travel wheelchair made by Wheelchair88 dot com. It folds up large suitcase size and is powered by lithium ion batteries. I got the XL1000 (the heavier duty one) because I wanted the power to jump small curbs and do the rough terrain of some of the European cruises. It weighs 50 pounds. I've just returned from a week on the Celebrity Summit and can tell you that it had no problems with the gangways or with the occasional higher doorstep. It almost has too much power and you need to be aware of that. Let me know if you would like a full review.

    Kate,

Thank you for your post. I got one of the EZ Lite Cruiser and I really like it. However I had not seen anyone on here who had used one on a cruise. I researched several and decided on the EZ Lite. It is very similar to the Wheelchair88 and wondered how well they do on cruises. I am glad to know that it worked well for you.

I am really looking forward to using it on our upcoming cruise in April.

  14. There is another parking building that is right at the corner where you cross to go to the terminal. We used it once but it has changed owners since then. They only have indoor parking. It is Galveston VIP Parking. We have used Park & Cruise but since I have some mobility issues Galveston VIP is a little closer. We are using them in April for our cruise.

Have a great cruise whatever you decide.
