  1. I don't think the causes are terribly surprising: Holiday crowds Major storms across much of the country Higher than usual absenteeism due to flu, COVID, etc. Antiquated IT It was the "perfect storm" Now, the one thing that needs to be prioritized once customers squared away (luggage, refunds, etc) is to update the IT ASAP. Unfortunately it isn't something that can be done quickly.
  2. We fly Sat OMA to LA. First had Long Beach via Denver booked...changed to LAX via PHX last week. Figured smaller airports more likely to be cancelled plus COULD drive from PHX if need be. Now things seem to have settled down. We have friends who live near LGB, and Denver weather looks fine next weekend so changed back... I'll take the luxury of SWA letting me choose what flight I want for free right now!
  3. Ocean Blue & Cagneys were my fav on Getaway. They weren't QUITE as good on the Encore, but still solid. We have a specialty dinner & possibly may buy the 2 dinner upgrade for $70 each. Anyone have a fav (or 3)? Thanks!
  4. Holy cow--it WAS still there yesterday!! It IS still listed on Prima...tho I am not terribly hopeful. SHOOT Yes, we line up 45-60 min early. ALWAYS packed. Sounds like a contract issue...tho I spoke with several of the band members on our August cruise & they all felt it was a really good gig!
  5. I use my Chase Sapphire Reserve to book for travel insurance--but not cancel for any reason. I did cancel. The penalty was half of what I thought it would be (forgot taxes, fees & gratuities are refunded w/o penalty). The Prima cruise is cheaper so it all comes out in the wash!
  6. OK...I thought we could not cancel at all. So we can cancel with a 25% fee...honestly the other trip is cheaper so might be worth it...I do want to sail Prima!
  7. As noted in my above posted thread...once i did the drink calculator it was a no brainer. A coffee in AM, soda at lunch, drink b4 dinner, couple glasses of wine with dinner & a nightcap....BINGO. WORTH IT. I knew DH would easily get his $ worth. So I figured if I was a break even or even close it was worth it. I admit, having been sailing Celebrity/Princess/NCL, we are spoiled with their all-inclusive packages so we haven't paid for drink packages in quite a while! I think it was the 14 days cost that was a tough pill to swallow...
  8. We are sailing our 1st Carnival cruise next week... But we have done Celebrity Edge twice & the Apex as well...with the Beyond in Dec. We LOVE LOVE LOVE Eclass on Celebrity! Food is FANTASTIC (MDRs are so great...but Eden was terrific on both ships it is now a must do...plus I wanna try Le Voyage & Chef's table as well!), shows are Celebrity's best. And the ships are gorgeous. Infinite balconies--people love them or hate them. We like a balcony but don't typically spend a lot of time out there so the extra room an IV adds was nice. Sailed Discovery in Sept...lovely ship. It was an AK cruise so more sedate than any Caribbean cruise we have taken. But we do love Princess. TRYING to get my NCL April cruise changed from Getaway to Prima...really want to try her. But I'm not sure that will happen...
  9. We booked the Getaway in April SPECIFICALLY because of Syd Normans. Current passengers say there is no Syd Norman's show & it is GONE from the entertainment list on the Getaway on NCL's website. I used chat today, willing to change to Prima or Breakaway the same time period & they said NOPE, can't be done since we are past 120 days. Has anyone had any luck doing this?' We are SO SO disappointed!
  10. STL, MCO, DEN, PHX, HOU, LAS Even occasional directs to FLL.
  11. Excited to follow along--I'm on my 1st MSC cruise in Feb, also on the Divina! LOL I just looked up these 2 hotels for my date--Intercontinental is $275 more than the Hampton (which is $368/nt, which seems NUTS. Prices are high as I paid $260 for the EVEN Hotel. Stayed there last month & really liked it.)
  12. SWA used to be the lowest fares. Not always so now. Then about 10 years ago we got Companion Pass... and have had it since (tho this may be our last year...we would put private college tuition on our SWA credit card, pay off w/ 529...public school tuition ain't cheap, but it doesn't get us as close to 135K points/yr!!) With Companion Pass its a NO brainer. We set timers to check in on time & nearly always get A boarding group so we can usually sit where we prefer to. We have SWA priority credit cards so we each get 4 free upgrades/yr if not. Yes, free checked bags & free changes/cancellations are huge perks. We have traveled A LOT in the last 10 years & have had NO issues w/ SWA. Now, with Companion Pass expiring the end of this year, I will look at all airlines when booking. We have a lot of SWA points...and a stash of SWA cards so that will keep us going for a while!
  13. Nope, nothing booked. Haven't looked online for anything yet.
  14. Yeah...I just thought there would be a line specific for rewards...
  15. Got the card in Sept & have more than made the min purchase requirement to get the 30000 My Cruise points (we got an email with that offer). For the life of me I cannot figure out who I contact to get this taken care of! Thx!
  16. I know Princess is considered the best in AK... Is there one line that does New England better than others? (we have sailed several lines so aren't picky!)
  17. That appears to be Medium--M. Rare would be more red in the center than pink. Even a MW should have a touch of pink in the center. You could have sent it back for a couple minutes more on the grill. Yes, it has taken me years to convince DH that if he wants a MW steak, just get a sirloin. He now orders his filets M... Now, you are not paying any more at Crown Grill for filet than Sirloin, so enjoy!
  18. Yep, I posted this a couple days ago under Cruise Air. It gives a good inside story about the mess.
  19. DS got to PHX this AM no problems. OMA shows NO SWA cancellations today, as of this moment. They said they would be essentially 100% today & it appears that they may well be so across the nation. Doesn't fix what happened, but it is step 1 in getting things right. I'm confident this will light a fire under them to get their IT updated ASAP.
  20. Yes. https://www.tripsavvy.com/the-largest-airlines-in-the-world-53223
  21. Sending good vibes--PLEASE keep us updated on how things go! Our son is set to fly to PHX via SWA early tomorrow for the Fiesta bowl to watch his alma mater (TCU) play. That flight has gone the last 3 days so--fingers crossed! We fly 1/7. My United flight attendant friend believes all will smooth over by then--remember, always pay attention to flight attendants. If they are calm, all is well!
  22. We have 7 ports (8 really as there is an excursion in Orlando, our point of embarkation). Seems like far too few with 3 1/2 mos to go.
  23. AH...yes, I didn't see that...just as well, apparently the payment DID go thru... Oh, well, they are PAID
  24. Keep getting an error message... Think I'll get it thru Saturday?
