  1. I can't speak for myself but a colleague at work has been on A deck and vowed 'never again'. She found it so incredibly noisy from the deck above, chairs and beds being moved around and starting about 6.30am!

  2. Our price has gone up by £300 each on Select since we booked it in February (to be fair, I don't know what the launch price was but I assume it wasn't too different), and up by £100 for Saver fare. Plus I got £440 OBC on top.

It looks like a complete lottery to me so as has been said by many before, if you like the price, book it. If it goes up then you're quids in, if it goes down, don't worry, you still got it for what you thought it was worth at the time you booked.

  3. Well done on upgrade Shallwe where /when you off too

Western Med, next month. And it couldn't come sooner!

The upgrade wasn't massive, only one grade up. But as P&O paid for most of the cruise because of our disastrous February cruise, I for one aren't complaining about the upgrade :D

  4. Although none of the real ale was draught, the bottled (and canned as in the case of Speckled Hen) was a good choice. There was a long list of real ales on their drinks menu, but unfortunately only a few were actually on board. What they did have though suited me, and was reasonably priced.

I also found that not all the bars stocked all of the real ales although I seem to recall most of them had Speckled Hen as a minimum. The biggest choice on Oriana for instance was in the sports bar.

  5. Just received an upgrade email confirming a move from 'F' deck to 'B' deck on Oriana.

The cabin is still an inside which is as expected and still forward, but just like our original cabin, is still sandwiched between cabins above and below - just what we wanted :)

The missus will be pleased, not so far to walk to the gym, and I don't need to walk so far to the Crows Nest ;)

  6. We were on board her (she is a 'she' isn't she?) in February and were 51 & 55 at the time. To be fair we were one of the youngest although there were a small number who were a lot younger (twenties?)

Most are a fair few years older than us but believe me, they were dancing till dawn whilst we were snuggled up in bed knackered!

  7. My husband and I hate having our wine glasses filled and actually ask for it not to be done, because they often fill it too soon. We don't want to drink too much and always pour our own. I find plated meals absolutely fine.

In my wife's much younger years she did some waitressing. They were told do do two things, provide oversize wine glasses and keep topping the glasses up. The net affect being that with luck the client would finish their wine bottle quickly and order another. Mark-ups on wine are quite substantial, even compared to the food.

I agree however, we much prefer to fill our own glass.

  8. OK, so looks like ours will be another weekor so. I didn't see any box to tick for e-tickets?

As you may recall, we are on the same cruise as yourself. I didn't realise that there was a box to tick for the e-tickets. On our first cruise, I just downloaded the e-tickets as I didn't know that they can send some to you.

I'll just have to wait to see if anything arrives, and if not, just hope my printer doesn't break down

  9. I could be wrong but I don't recall one on our 14 cruise on Oriana in February. To be fair though, it wouldn't appeal to either my wife or I as neither of us are particularly chocolate mad.

Now where did I leave that Dairy Milk Bar? :p

  10. I have to admit to having my comeuppance on my last cruise. The wife and I left our bits on the sunbed for what was meant to be a very brief period (honest!) but it turned out to be longer than anticipated.

Unfortunately it started pouring with rain and all our stuff got deservedly wet.

We won't be doing that again!

  11. Last year we were upgraded from a mid-ships inside on Riviera deck on Azura -so fairly high up - to a window midships, but down on P deck, so same level as the Atrium. We were a bit concerned about the location, but in the end it was fine and we loved having the window!

Am going to check my booking for Britannia in the Caribbean next Christmas to see if there has been any change to our cabins. Despite booking Select at the start of this year, they refused to allocate us any cabins, just saying we would get the grade we had requested. We were not at all happy and pointed out they were contravening their own T&Cs for Select bookings, but they would not budge. Would be nice to be upgraded to an unobstructed balcony... Talk about wishful thinking!

    Interesting.

I booked Select for Britannia online for December 2015 and was given a choice of cabins within my grade to choose from.

  12. Only ever been on one cruise, on Oriana. Everything went wrong on that cruise which was no fault of anyone or anything, just a like a car, things can go mechanically wrong at any time.

However, my description of the ship in one of my first posts here was describing the ship as 'beautifully elegant'.

We loved her so much that we have booked to go on her again and are off in 7 weeks time.

You can take my post with a tinge of cynicism if you like judging from my lack of experience, however, if I hadn't of liked the ship, I would certainly have vented my feelings, and definitely wouldn't have booked up for her again.

  13. Do not pay money to go on as cruise and sit in my cabin watching TV only watch it for news and that is amply provided.

    Good lord how patronising.

Not sure that it's patronising, although it is an opinion. It's also an opinion I subscribe to.

  14. Just checked all months from now until Jan 2015 and it only shows the select price.

How strange. I just did a dummy booking for my October cruise and it came up with Vantage & Getaway fares :confused::confused:

It would be good if someone else did a dummy booking for cruise X423 to see what they get. I did say I hadn't traveled with them before. Maybe that makes a difference?

  15. The lack of television channels had no effect on me, I checked out the news but more important to me being in an inside cabin, I checked what the outside held for me that day by tuning into the live webcam as soon as I woke up :D

  16. Thanks for the information, this is our first cruise on P&O, so still trying to find out as much about the cruise as we can. There are so many mixed reviews on here, that I am just finding out information regarding the basics, so more questions may still be asked. We will just make our own minds up when we're on board regarding food/staff etc. as we're just pleased to be on the cruise in the first place and will try and have a good time no matter what.

Strangely enough, I've found that in my short time here on this forum that the bad reviews appear mostly to come from those that travel on P&O most of the time

  17. When we booked our next cruise on board, we got an additional £50pp OBC which I believe is the normal credit for booking on board.

We also got other OBC as well i.e. the usual £150pp plus they also had a special offer OBC if you booked before end of February, which we did by one day.

All in all we did okay for someone in an inside cabin. Being moderate drinkers, I reckon our gratuities and drinks bill would be just about covered :D

Nobody can say if it would cover the cost if the cruise goes up in price. As others have said on other posts elsewhere, if the price is right for you, book it because you never know what will happen.
