Princess has already canceled our Nov 23rd cruise on the Sky. They of course have not refunded cruise deposits.
This is the letter we received for the 11/23 Sky cruise;
Important update regarding your Booking #XKGC8T
Dear Donald,
Due to reduced flight availability, the closure of cruise ports in regions around the world and other factors impacting travel, it is with a heavy heart that Princess is extending our pause of global ship operations.
We know you were looking forward to sailing with us, and we apologize and share in your disappointment over this cancellation. We would love nothing more than to explore the world with you; unfortunately, that isn’t possible at this time.
We hope you will stick with us by accepting this special Double your Deposit Future Cruise Credit offer:
- Transfer the money deposited for your vacation as a refundable Future Cruise Credit (FCC) and Princess will provide a matching bonus FCC for the same amount up to the base cruise fare amount of the current cruise (minimum $100 per person).
This requires no action from you and gives our team a chance to shine at a later date by using the Future Cruise Credits above on any voyage through May 1, 2022. To find out the amount of your base cruise fare, please log in to Cruise Personalizer ❯, see your booking confirmation email or ask your travel advisor.
Alternatively, you can forfeit the bonus FCC and request a refund for all money paid on your booking by using this online form ❯. If we don't hear from you by June 15, 2020, you will automatically receive the default FCC offer.
Money paid in excess of the cruise fare for Princess Vacation Protection, taxes, fees and port expenses, airfare or hotel packages will be refunded or transferred to a new booking if you’re ready to rebook. In any event prepaid shore excursions and/or special service items will be refunded. Click here ❯ for full details.
We ask for your continued patience in affording us the time to work through the refunds and FCCs properly. Because we are not able to use our usual automated process, our team is manually handling a large volume of requests while working from home. We want to make sure each guest's booking is handled as accurately and efficiently as possible, and this is taking more time.
When you are ready to rebook, please contact Princess or the original agency where you booked your cruise to redeem your Future Cruise Credit.
It saddens us to think about the impact on the livelihood of our teammates, business partners and the communities we visit. We look forward to the day when you can sail with us, and we can serve you once again.
Sincerely,
Jan SwartzPresident

It is a really bad cold. You do understand that Covid 19 is in the cold virus family, right? People die from colds, especially people who have other health problems and end up in a perfect storm situation. But Covid 19 is not a common cold. It is more severe. But it has a very low death rate. And we have more treatments now. That’s part of why even though cases may be rising, death rates are going down. This reality is not offensive— it’s just a part of life.
Yeah right....SMH......And did you know if we stopped testing we wouldn't have any cases? Also if we didn't have pregnancy tests we wouldn't have any pregnancies. Obviously a lot of you have not had anyone you love with this "common cold". I for one have had 4 people I know die from this. The youngest was 42 with know underlying health conditions. And one was in the UK.

Does anyone have pictures from one of these cabins? Does anyone know for sure if the balconies are fully covered, partially covered or uncovered? Thanks.
I was told they were partially covered. Just like the Caribbe deck on the Emerald,, ruby, etc

Do you know if they sold the wine packages in the main dining room?
-
Am loving your review and pictures. Do you know if the Sky offers a wine package in the dining room?

They pour from a different bottle, which is a cheap version. They didn’t tell us that it was not proper Baileys until we asked. We can tell the difference!
There is no Baileys onboard.
now they have run out of our favourite wine as well.Do you know if they have the wine package on board the Sky?

My husband has his tux and even the USNC dress Blue shoes. But with the weight limits now I always found it easier to rent the shoes. Guess he will be packing his shoes from now on.

Probably because they still feel they can attract clientele. IDK what a line like Cunard does these days, but as others have pointed out, Princess seems to want to hang onto the policy, but not literally enforce it, perhaps to keep everyone happy to enjoy the evening as they wish and meanwhile the staff carry on making it more of a special event than other nights. The other aspect is they can keep up a certain published standard, while hopefully discouraging or eliminating shorts, t-shirts, running shoes and flip-flops.
Cunard still has it and on a 7 day cruise you could have as many as 4 or 5 formal nights.
IMO the cruise lines never enforced formal night. People just wore what they wanted because "they paid for their cruise and they will do and go where they want".
It's a shame that we are becoming a society of slobs....so to speak. The last cruise we were on was RCL and yes they had formal nights BUT when someone shows up in jeans and a t-shirt with a baseball cap on, I think that something should've been said. Even on a regular night a hat on at the table is just plain rude......again.....IMO

What a shame. Looks like all the complainers got their way and tuxedos are becoming a thing of the past. Some ruin it for all.

I found the walking tour that we used on our first visit to Tallinn. It provides walking directions from port, hits all of the high points of the old town & includes photos. If you would like a copy of the PDF, email me (address included in signature).

I am looking at either the 7 or 8 night on the Celebrity Silhouette. I looked at P.O. Cruise first but decided Celebrity looked better.
Also do you have to call the cruise line directly to get an aft at the very back of ship? Only has one on e on an Alaska cruise, loved it, ago to long as to remember,
Aft cabins are usually the first to sell out. I would call the cruise line pronto if that's what you want. We love aft cabins.

When we brought three cases on, they just handed us the stickers when they were delivered to the room so we could choose which one to take to the MDR.
(Before you say something, we aren't big drinkers, it was a 60 night cruise!)

Has anyone been to Brest France? We are only there from 7a.m. to 3 p.m. Is the town near the cruise port? Is it possible to get to Quimper in that amount of time?

Is your cruise still listed on the RC website? I heard back a month in advance also and I’m assuming it was part of a last minute shuffle right before selling out because it’s been off the site since that day.
No it isn't BUT it is still showing up on other websites as having cabins available. The 1st two b2b's are still showing up on RCI but I did not bid on those.

So we got an email last night from Royal Up for our 10/20 cruise. Put in minimum bid for Jr Suite, medium bid for Grand Suite and high bid for owners suite. They took our minimum bid and we already have the cabin #. Pretty good location too. One cabin forward of the hump. I'm happy. At the time I booked a Jr Suite was over $1500. more so for $400. good deal. We are on three b2b cruises so this is the last one of the three. Travelling with friends the first two weeks and we have side by side cabins. I was surprised to hear back a month in advance. Sure am glad I don't have to check my email everyday while on the first two cruises to see if we got upgraded.

We generally get our rejection emails about 24 hours before we sail. Can't say when they send acceptance emails, because we've never had a bid accepted.
Well that's not what I wanted to hear..... Do you bid weak, fair or high?
-
Gee....I have the same questions. What cruise did you submit your bid?

Remember Princess takes one cruise and has several different embarkation ports. So you can take a 25 day cruise and do it as 23 or 19 or 7 days as an example. Ours was a TA out of Southampton.
