  1. The old mattresses were so hard (and often saggy) that I could only sleep 5 hours each night before both my legs would go numb, from the hips down, from the lack of circulation. I would wake up in tears. But I'm an old salt and love the seas so I continued to put up with it. I am so looking forward to the new mattresses.

We just got off the Anthem of the Seas for just a 9 day cruise. By day 4 my sciatica had come back with a vengeance. I never had any problems with Princess mattresses. When we asked our room steward on the Anthem for an egg crate or something to combat the hardness of the mattress he said they had nothing. So he took one of the comforters and but it under the bottom sheet. I felt like I was in a toaster now sweating from the bottom and the top. That was the first time EVER in our 40+ cruises that we could not wait for it to end.

  2. Just got off the Anthem and OMG the mattresses are harder than the floor. I asked for an egg crate topper and were told they didn't have any. Our room steward said he would work on it. What they did was but one of the top comforters under the bottom sheet. So now I not only had my sciatic acting up the whole cruise but I was so hot to boot. Bad enough to have that hot comforter on top of you but when you lay on one it just adds to your body heat. It took me 4 days to get a feather pillow  I have nothing good to say about the Anthem of the Seas.

  3. ship is in GREAT shape...still looking for all the "run down" parts....as usual staff is outstanding.

You obviously arnt looking hard enough.

The 64th stanchion, opposite the door on deck 15,going into H.C

If you stretch out, do a double back-flip, and look, you will see a rust spot, the size of a penny.

Failing that you can borrow a magnifying glass from the Pursers desk.

Staff outstanding, how can this be so.

What about that dude that didn't smile once,at the right time, ive read about him.

Please enjoy the rest of your cruise, and let us know.:):)

I sure wish CC would put a "like" button at the bottom of the posts. Excellent post!

  4. NCL is the one that does it right...freestyle. Still no shorts/tee shirts but jeans and a polo are ok. And no formal nights.

And I think that's great. I just don't understand why a select few have to try and ruin it for everyone else. If you don't want to dress formal then cruise Celebrity or Norwegian. Even Royal Caribbean is doing away with it for the most part. But with that being said, I feel sorry for the ones who want to dress to the 9's and have to deal with the guy sitting next to them in jeans and suspenders. The last Princess cruise we were on they even put it in the patter that on formal nights the request was to remain dressed in venues like the theater and such.....to no avail :(

  5. I put a Window Suite cabin on hold with the Beverage package until today because I thought the new sale started today. When I went to Princess to check the prices, the Window Suite had gone up $600... with NO perks  Needless to say we kept the other price and promotion and booked it ;)

  6. Absolutely not true. Your TA doesn't know what they're talking about. It'll be applied automatically to your folio and you'll receive a card in your cabin thanking you for your loyalty. You won't see it anywhere on your booking or credits before boarding the ship.

FYI, it's not based on the number of cruises but the number of cruise credits. For many, that's the same thing but if you book a full suite or cruise as a single, you get two credits per cruise.

Do you know the number of credits needed? Also is a Window Suite considered a full suite?

  7. Hmm, as the OP color me confused. If we are not really doing a B2B, what would you call it?

We board the Ruby in Vancouver on voyage R719 and sail to Seattle. Then the next day, while remaining in the same cabin, set sail on voyage R720.

    Bob

Yeah....your not the one confused. Your fine, and yes, you are on a b2b. Where does your 2nd leg end?

  8. The b2b's I have been on were simple. If you are lucky and are staying in the same cabin for both legs, you just get up in the morning and report to the venue they tell you to with your passports. They have a list of all back two backers. Usually they send something to your cabin explaining everything. They will lead you off the ship to go through immigration and then bring you right back on board. :D Love b2b's

And you don't have to attend the muster drill on the 2nd leg (if you don't want to)

  9. How do you get these special casino rates? I spend a lot of time in the casino but I must admit that I normally (9 out of 10) times walk away a winner....does that count against you? Last time I put in $50. the last night while I was waiting on my husband and hit for $1600. That was after I had already cashed out my card for the cruise at a winnings of over $700 for the entire cruise.

Do you have to put mega bucks into the machines? I must admit, I start with $100. and if I win I cash out then play on their money the rest of the time. But I do play a lot.

  10. You think that might have something to do about the rules prohibiting mentioning specific names of Travel Agents?

I was told that the availability of travel agents on weekends was critical, you might miss out on one of those 2AM Saturday Morning "flash sales". One can only wonder about those who get up at 2AM to check cruise prices.

    Don't get up....am already up :D

  11. I have an upcoming Princess cruise for march 2017. A Celebrity offer has come to light. A better offer. Better dates etc.

Being well over the 181 days for a penalty free cancellation I thought great lets make the switch. However I didnt realise my agent had there own set of cancelation policy ontop of Princess. We require to pay a fee for cancelation. I would understand a small fee since its extra work but I think $300 is a little excessive.

They also charge fees for refairing etc (so price drops are useless). Ontop of my frustration I specifically asked if a penalty free cancelation will be honoured by princess prior to booking since we weren't sure about the dates.

Adding to my frustration it states a change in cruise date is permitted for $50. I argued that since they are retaining the commission isnt it a change in date. They argued since it involves cancelling our cruise and booking another. No we incure the cancelation fee. The $50 is only charged within the same booking... one is not sure how you book a new departure date for the same cruise.

Has anyone experienced this before. I.e agent fees ontop of cruise lines?

Have never, never experienced that. I call my TA all the time and tell her either the rates have gone down, I want to switch to a different promo, change my cabin, dining time, etc. Even have canceled a few cruises and she has never charged us a dime. Sounds like it's time to get a new TA.....I do so much better with a TA for reduced fares on Princess and OBC for Celebrity and Royal.
