  1. Hi, Yes, I'm really looking forward to it! Looks beautiful. I've heard of Yankee Trails bus, and will look into it for this cruise. In the past I've taken Amtrak. My only problem was upon return, as the cabs lined upon 12th Avenue didn't want to take such a short fare. They were looking for an airport trip I suppose. Now I know to just walk a block or so further east to get a cab to Penn Station. I'm guessing the Yankee Trails bus would solve that issue.
  2. Yes this is my concern also. I’m just hoping for the best at this point. I’ve never been to Bermuda. My last cruise (on the Bliss, right as everything shut down, 3/8-3/15/2020) was a wonderful experience. Love sailing out of NYC.
  3. 🤣Well I hope it’s legit because I am booked on it! Was drawn by the price of course and the length. I keep thinking it will get canceled (even before the hurricane forms and heads straight towards the ship, and/or any of the ports listed!) I even started a roll call on this site but no takers so far. Yes it’s confusing, since I saw the same itinerary reversal, but the paperwork I have so far (after booking) shows Bermuda as a port on days 7&8 back to NY. This means a second COVID test given onboard. After reading all the posts on here about COVID, I’m thinking my odds are not good. Oh well, it’s fun to dream. It’ll be my first cruise back since the restart.
  4. If this question were to be asked before boarding, wouldn't a high percentage (if not the majority) of passengers be identified as having one or more comorbidities? (Age, obesity, cancer survivor, heart disease, diabetes...) If the question is asked, what would be the purpose? Should these people be barred? I can't imagine the result.
  5. This is an eye opener, for sure. A great concern to see that hospitalizations are rising in many areas. I wonder what the vaccination rates are in the areas served by University of Michigan. Here in New York, vaccination rates are in the 70-75% range for all adults, much higher among older population cohorts. In that regard it makes sense that since there are many more vaccinated people than unvaccinated, they would also be a larger percentage of the hospitalized population. As you say, comorbidity is the key factor. Again, as comorbidity rises with age (and one's comorbidity factors may cause one to seek vaccination) this interplay might be involved as well. But I too am concerned, and am rethinking fall cruises at this point.
  6. This. Too bad it's so often like this as the site really can be helpful. It's best to try to ignore the negative back and forth and focus on finding the information you need. I guess there are those that enjoy the rudeness.
  7. In addition to NCL’s recommended testing service, I believe there are also telehealth testing companies that medically proctor your test, but you supply the test. They say that any unopened over the counter at home test is good. You sign up, reserve an appointment and take the test. They then email you the result. So, you could bring tests from home or buy them in New York. One company I’ve seen is called OnPoint. It’s about $20 for each test monitoring session. They say they have appointments 24/7, so you could do it at your hotel. (I’d try to find reviews of this company from customers if you can). There are likely other companies that do this as well. As one earlier response here stated, testing is readily available in NYC, at mobile sites, Urgent care clinics, and CVS. Maybe this won’t be needed in September if we’re lucky!🤞 I hope all goes well.
  8. This still seems confusing. The website for the Bermuda TA still as of today 5/21/22, says you need the vaccine card proof and negative Covid test before embarkation (and another one given on the ship if Bermuda is not the first port of call). So is the change that you don't need to upload the first negative test? (The one needed by NCL to get on the ship.) Do you get the TA approved in a timely manner? I am planning to do it 2-3 weeks before embarkation, but of course will only have the vaccine card uploaded, not the Covid test.
  9. While attempting to book a cruise I noticed that Carnival’s recommended travel insurance is not available to residents of New York. What company do people use for insurance. Obviously I’d want to get it!
  10. What a lovely family! A great review too. I'm going on the Breakaway in October for a Canada/New England cruise. Loved the Bliss also. (It certainly was a memorable cruise, being the very last one before Covid.) We came back to a changed world. I like the way you convey the experience. Hope to hear more. Thank you.
