  1. @rudicruiser

I visited some years ago BallinStadt. I was at Ellis Island too and thought it was great to see the start here. But i found it a little bit boring.

    http://www.ballinstadt.de/anfahrt/?lang=en

    i used the Metro ( S3 ) to Veddel.

by ferry -> click the Maritime Circle line

and then you are at their hompage:

    http://www.maritime-circle-line.de/routen/

all places they stop, at the Wunderland too.

    http://www.maritime-circle-line.de/fahrplan/

timetable ( scroll down for Sommer / Summer )

it is not like the other ferry, it is like a hopp on hopp off ferry ( cost 16 Euro per Person http://www.maritime-circle-line.de/tickethaus/preise/ ). The other ferry are part of the metro system and you can use them with the same day or group ticket. The number 10 is not the ferry number. The Landungsbrücken is big an there are numbers to find the place where your ferry is. The maritime circle line is at pier/bridge 10 at the landungsbrücken.

For example here you can see the numbers of the ferry line 62 or 72.

I didn´t used the maritime circle line myself. Maybe someone other can write more.

    found the english Homepage:

    http://www.maritime-circle-line.de/englisch/

click at the flyer, it has all information ( Miniatur Wunderland is the next building to Hamburg Dungeon, same place)

  2. you has different dates in your posts, Jun or Juli? and friday?

go 5 Minutes before the train arrives in Osnabrück to the door, then you are fast out of the train and have not to wait.

i never was in Osnabrück, i found a map (don´t know if it is up to date)

    https://www.bahn.de/regional/view/mdb/pv/deutschland_erleben/niedersachsen/regionales/sev-lageplaene/mdb_91775_osnabrueck_hbf.pdf

regular you can see the track on the homepage bahn.de, but for your trains they don´t show the track. for example, for the same trains in May the train arrives on track 11, and the train to Hamburg is on track 3. look for the tracks at the homepage before your tour.

  3. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2437854

i wrote there some words, try http://www.hvv.de/en/

Landungsbruecken to Argentinienbrücke for the ferry at your date, i walked the last time and needed about 40 minutes from landungsbrücken via Alter Elbtunner ( under the Elbe ) and it was OK and will walk again. there is a bus line at the other site of the elbe ( at the Alter Elbtunnel ) steinwerder alter elbtunnel to argentinienbrücke but not saturdays, try the homepage too.

With the hotel it is difficult because everyone prefers other things. if i´m correct you have a 20 Minute walk to the next metro station or can use a bus. i don´t like bus. i woud prefer a hotel at the city centre or with a short walk to a metro station and not so far away, maybe with only 3-4 Station.

hope the link works, you need 50 minutes from landungsbruecken to the hotel

if this is ok for you why not

  4. In Hamburg pre-cruise in July for one day. Would it be walkable from Hotel Steigenberger to Mini Wunderland and then walkable next day, again from hotel to Altona?

from Hotel to Miniatur Wunderland is walkable, do a ticket reservation, sometimes you have to wait a hour or longer without

    http://www.miniatur-wunderland.com/visit/ticket/

    https://www.elbphilharmonie.de/en/plaza

is the newest attraction and not far away from the miniatur wunderland, and there are other attractions like st. michel or st. nikolai in walking distance from your hotel. to the other site away from your hotel to the Alster ( lake ) there ist the jungfernstieg, town hall and shopping area, it is even nice there.

from the hotel to cruise center Altona is a longer walk, maybe 45 Minutes or a little longer. i can´t say if you can walk this with your luggage. you can use the metro system, with the S1 from Stadthausbrücke to Königstraße ( but there are many stairs to walk) or with the S1 to Landungsbrücken and then take the ferry Line 62 from Landungsbrücken to Dockland. You will see your ship from the River and you can make nice pictures.
