  1. The Silversea excursions for the World Cruise 2023 Sydney to Fort Lauderdale have become available this morning for me as a Venetian Society member. Woo hoo! Cruisers new to SS will be able to select in a month's time. That means it is 30 weeks today until we board (touch wood!) My first observation is that I am disappointed, but not surprised, with the selection. There are many of the "bus ride around the city type tours' of course and not a lot more. Much that is of real interest is a Selected Excursion and therefore an extra charge. Selecting one of these means of course that you are effectively paying twice. I'm wondering what has been the impression of others about the included tours available on cruises since the policy was changed. I appreciated that the change, along with others, was made to benefit the bottom line, not necessarily me.
  2. Sorry to hear about you health issues. Does travel insurance cover the extra air fare and your expenses generally?
  3. The trip I referred to in 1978 was with my parents. I recall that my father said, at one point, with a note of resignation, he had climbed more churches in Italy than he had bar stools.
  4. Great pics and great views I had to giggle at your comment about having tickets. In 1978 we just wandered up - no charge and no lines! Those were the days!
  5. No increase for the one cruise that is still open. As all categories appear to be available I guess it is not selling too well. The other cruises remain waitlisted.
  6. You mean the majority of people who post here don't agree with labrasett. That is a given. I'll suggest that the overall reaction from all its customers and potential customers will determine whether Silversea changes its approach. In other words, the effect on the bottom line.
  7. Chennai tours have now been listed in My Bookings for our cruise. I hope it is also the case for others.
  8. Mysty- so happy that you and Myster are having such a great cruise. Why are we not there???? Continue to enjoy it. Hugs to you and to hubby too. M and D xx
  9. Hi mysty, I'm enjoying your cruise very much. How have you found the crowds? I recall seeing the Bayeux Tapestry many moons ago (pun intended!) and it was really difficult to get anywhere near it because of the crowds. I'm hoping their tourism is recovering.
  10. I'd expect that the test they would use would be the effect that the changes have on the number of new bookings, return bookings and the bottom line. They will be the criteria, The will tolerate the shouting and complaints if the bottom line benefits. They should be monitoring closely.
  11. Hi newbet. I can see you are very stressed by what appears to have happened and I can sympathize with that, However, I am having a bit of difficulty in grasping the situation. It sounds as if you only wanted one way flight cancelled but both were cancelled. However, I might be wrong. It would be much better, and people might be better able to assist you, if you can get someone else to explain on your behalf. Maybe you granddaughter or a close friend? People will be very willing to help here when they know the exact problem. All the best.
  12. I am looking forward to Chennai and to Silversea's suggestions.
  13. I think you are being generous. My TA advised me, enclosing the email from Silversea, on March 31. They would have been working on these changes for many weeks, if not months, before then. It was obvious to everyone a long time ago that Myanmar was a non-goer. It seems to me that this is probably not a priority for them but it is always much more positive to put the full picture to your clients, not drip-feed them.
  14. I'll leave your latter questions to others. Because of very severe feet problems by partner wore alternating pairs of Nike all black sneakers with thick soles for an entire world cruise in 2019, formal, informal and casual nights. No one commented or sent him to his room. You will have no problem.
  15. It's time to consider a new travel agent. My experience with Silverair is to have a response to a query through the TA within 48 hours.
  16. I have had several reminders that Silversea is going to increase prices from March 1 and that I should be doing bookings before that date to take advantage of existing prices. I don't have plans to book beyond what I already have in the foreseeable future, so I'll be very interested to see the size and extent of these price increases, as it seems to me to be counterintuitive to be raising prices in the current market and expecting a reasonable return. What do I know though?
