  1. We were on the Bali-Sydney cruise too. It is a long layover for the ship and they may have some work done in the time but I am not aware of it. At the moment there are minimal restrictions on people movements between Indonesia, including Bali, and Australia due to FMD but maybe Silversea consider that might change. Perhaps another issue would be the crewing of the ship for such a short period as crew on the World Cruise tends to be largely there for the whole time. Extending it to include cruises in south east Asia prior to January might be a step too far. All guesswork on my part. At least when we board in Sydney everything should be spotless (as usual)!
  2. Word I have heard is that Shadow will be "in layover" until a few days before the World Cruise starts in Sydney.
  3. I prefer "hello, what are you wearing?" Both sexes, hang up at that.
  4. Aussiechick7, it is the world cruise 2023, Sydney to Fort Lauderdale.
  5. It appears to be the case at the moment but 10 months is a long time in politics and cruising!
  6. Following up your request, just to let you know Silversea have put us on Qatar flights via Doha(FLL-DOH-MEL) so we are very pleased.
  7. For a moment I thought it must be a one-piece suit but I'm relived to find I was wrong lol
  8. I know I'm talking about Shadow not Muse but I'm sure many Shadow sailors will be reading the thread.
  9. And here is another potential complication to these sailings. The last two cruises, before Shadow gets to Sydney to commence the world cruise, are Singapore-Bali and Bali-Sydney. There has been a severe outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease in Bali in recent days and parts of our federal Opposition and calling for the border with Bali to be shut to protect the mammoth Australian livestock industry. So far the Government is resisting that, as are wiser heads amongst disease experts, farmer's organisations etc. But the potential is there and it should be on Silversea's "what if" list. That would put the cat amongst the pigeons (or maybe the cows?) as to what SS has to arrange to complete the Asian sailings and get the ship to Sydney for the World Cruise start. The WC would be a very high priority.
  10. I have two cruises, not back-to-back, on Shadow in December 2022 and January 2023 respectively. My Silversea requires me to complete a health declaration about when and what Covid vaccinations I've had for the December cruise but not the January one. All other information I have to enter in each booking separately. Am I missing something or is this a glitch? Thanks.
  11. I so want to have a discussion on Putney, having lived down the road from there (the wrong road) in my youth (before you were born) for a few years on my first foreign trip. But it would be off topic. 🙂
  12. I'm not at all averse to anyone stating what they see as inadequacies or failings of Silversea. By putting their views here they invite debate and disagreement. That is all fine and its the nature of an internet forum. I've done it myself. But my question is how many times do you need to do it essentially repeating the same points in the same thread? I think that your point that a reaction to, and disagreement with, negative comments may discourage others from stating their opinions is categorically disproved by history.
  13. With all due respect to you, you have made your point and some have agreed with you. But how long do we need to go on with it? For your adverse view there are many more that are satisfied with the food on Silversea. This is self-evident by its patronage. Given that many of the posts which were making fun around this thread have been deleted I want to record that my experience is fundamentally different from the OP's and, as I said in an earlier post, I wish you pleasant cruising in future whoever you sail with.
  14. Your truth hurts and makes me laugh at the same time!
  15. No wonder you want to change! I'm getting ready for a discussion of how they get us home from Fort Lauderdale. Business class is included. We should know shortly.
  16. Thanks you. That is good to know. Can I ask you what they had you booked on first and what they charged you for the variation?
  17. Before I get my TA onto the case, does anyone know know if Silversea has a contract with Qatar Airlines? I'm doing my best to avoid a long flight on Qantas and American.
  18. I wish you a pleasant and successful cruise whoever you sail with next time.
  19. Given that ethics have had a good run in this thread broadening the topic to ontology is a public service.
  20. They haven't announced their Bali hotels as yet. It's possible it could be the Simply one. However, I am there because it is quite decent, conveniently located and I'm using up some of the hotel points we haven't been able to use.
  21. Haven't been to Bali much in recent years but, f you have just two days, I'd suggest you either pick a nice beach resort or stay in Ubud and concentrate on that as there will not be much time to do a lot. There are a number of top end resorts and hotels around the island as I'm sure you are aware. We've used a guide previously (sorry, don't now have the details) and that was worthwhile given we therefore avoided driving in the traffic. We are on the same cruise as you and will have three nights prior at the Conrad which is easily accessible to both the airport and the Benoa cruise port. Our plan is to do nothing and just relax at the hotel.
