Are all cabin doors magnetic? Not all doors are magnetic. Some, but not all.
I assure you no doors on any ship are magnetic. If they were one could stick your flatware to the door. They may be made of ferrous metals though..

Walk the twenty feet to the Atrium bar and have "several" drinks. Stay away from Lido deck as it's pretty much amatuer hour the first day.

I don't believe every ship has walls that are metal. On the Dream, they were. On the Sunshine, they were not. However, the door entering our cabin was. We used magnets to hang all the important papers. I guess I would take magnets just in case.
I'm curious what you think these walls are made of... Plastic?, Wood?, Fiberglass?
I'm intrigued what the walls on the Sunshine are made of, never been on that ship.

Belieze is one of the ports that its very important to have an excursion booked and not venture out on your own.
Why would one say that? We've been there three times and have yet to have any problems with independent excursions. Last time we took a water taxi to Caye Caulker on our own and had a wonderful time. Had a great meal and and cheap drinks at the Lazy Lizard (this is NOT the bar in tourist town). Very relaxing and enjoyable.

Amazed that people will travel to Mexico to go to a hard rock.Amazed that people will jump on a post just to post something negative.
Saying one is "amazed" in itself is not negative. It appears you read more into it than was written.
That being said, nothing like like a T-shirt made in China for a corporation based in Florida owned by indian tribe to serve a a souvenir from a foreign country.
To each his own, nothing wrong with this at all. If one likes T-shirts from Hard Rock, so be it!

There is Really no such thing as a table for two. We had "table for two" every night but because you are so close to the next table we ended up chatting with our neighbors each night. It was nice, it was ok. I understand there is only so much room in a ship and so many people to feed.
No, there are true "tables for two". On the second floor of the aft dining room on Freedom class ships right along the railing towards the back. While there are only four or six such tables, they do exist.
We had one for a B2B on the Freedom/Valor/Liberty (not sure which, they tend to blur) and it was great. Service levels seemed a bit better than average too. I think though they were normally reserved for officers and their family as that was who we normally saw at the other tables. We're plat and generally get cat 10/11/12s, but I have no idea why we got the table as we did not make any special request.

Yup just ignore it. Like most will do, which will create a crowd anyway. Faster to the Fun will save the day though if you have it or of a status where you don't need it.
Get there between 2-3pm as suggested and you'll definitely walk right on.
I doubt you walk right on the ship. You will walk right on the long line instead
No it's true, one can pretty much walk right aboard the ship with late arrival.
We've done this several times. From the time we get out of the taxi at 3:00 until we are at the Atrium bar having a Miami Vice is about 15 minutes.

Platinum get a pin with the year and ship on it. Hate to say it, I generally throw it away.

$295 for seven days in a Cat 11 OS for TWO people the week after 9/11.
We were aboard the prior week and got this offer slipped under the door. Apparently many, many people had cancelled because of the uncertainty of what was going on and lack of flights. We called the airline and was able to postpone our flight home for no cost and had a great time that second week for next-to-nothing.

I believe the big difference between ordering a bottle from Bon Voyage before the cruise and ordering it while on the cruise from room service is that a gratuity is added.
Other than that, the price is a the same (albeit a tad expensive).
-
I'm glad Carnival is doing something about the door decorating. Too bad they can't enforce aesthetics.
-
With a b2b, you can bring them on, but they will take them from you. Then, you can get them back at the end of the week, for the next leg of the trip.
That's not the experience we've had on the four B2B's we've done.
We've brought four bottles of wine/champagne when boarding for the first cruise, but needed to provide security a copy of the second cruise boarding pass. One time we needed to get a supervisor involved, but all went fine.

Would you pay $110 more for an aft facing extended balcony on the upper deck vs. a "regular" balcony cabin on the Verandah deck?
No, if one can afford a aft-wrap. get that, otherwise use your $110 for drinks.. The "aft only" cabins are overhyped. I'm surprised how many people pay the premium.

Our last 3 or 4 cruises we have stayed in an Ocean and/or Grand Suite. On our last cruise a few weeks ago, we received an invite for a free cruise in an Interior Cabin. What are your thoughts on going from a Suite to an Interior room?
No way. I wouldn't do it even if it is free. One of the reasons we go on cruises is to enjoy the balcony and a large cabin. I would not want to spend my cruise in a dark, tiny interior.

In the same vein as "they don't serve beer at the Alchemy bar", they also do not serve mixed drinks that have soda as an ingredient (e.g. Rum & Coke, Gin & Tonic, etc.). At least this was true on the Freedom and Liberty in 2014, but their ability to make a fantastic "real" Martini (with Gin) made up for any perceived shortcomings.

Our first (and only) cruise was on the Triumph and I'm embarrassed to say how many Guys burgers my boys ate, they have to really watch what they eat for wresting season and since this was right after they decided to let loose. Anyway we're planning another cruise and this time thinking about the Dream. I'm getting some grief because it doesn't have Guys. Are the burgers on the Dream comparable to Guys at all?
In a word, NO.

I’d stay away from a strictly “aft” balcony for the following reasons:
-
The balcony areas can be very HOT
-
No breeze to speak of compounds the heat.
-
No shade! Hope you like the sun!
-
Trash, often one will find cigarette butts, used napkins, pizza crust on your balcony.
-
Lack of view, all you see is where you’ve been. Most people want to see where one is going.
-
Lack of privacy, anyone standing next to the rail can see everything on your balcony.
-
While the balcony is a bit larger, the area you gain is under a railing that slopes towards you. The outer three feet of the balcony is under this railing and is effectively unusable.
We've had several 9C’s (aft wrap) and tend to use the side portion the most because of the above reasons (privacy, shade, breeze, view). The “aft” portion is nice early in the morning or evening (nothing like a Martini on your balcony at sunset) when it’s a bit more tolerable and with a wrap you can take advantage of the large balcony (36’ on the Dream).
Probably the biggest concern for us was the lack of privacy. One cruise we had a “chatty Cathy” type next to us and wanted to know where we were from, how often we cruise, etc. and insisted we invite her and her spouse over to enjoy our wrap (nope, not gonna happen), drove us nuts.
My opinion would be if you can’t afford a wrap and it’s the choice is between an aft or an extended side, I vote side.

It really adds to the discussion to have people who don't like trivia, think it's boring, and think cruising is about more than trivia, post their feelings in here. When you're through, find a thread about something else you have no interest in and go post in it.
Whereas your post is such an uplifting, on-topic remark.
Perhaps you should start find a thread where people complain about other comments and post there.

With the tight wads on this-- it's their job ! I'm already forced to tip, which I don't think should ever be the case.
No you are not. Go to Guest Services, they will remove your auto-tip.
I must say though, I am surprised by the number of "tightwads" there are. I wonder if Carnival passengers exceed the average of other cruise lines in that area...

where are they taking the embarkation photo? the last time we sailed the photographers were set up right after you got off the escalator (before security) is that still happening? it was an unorganized mess...hoping they moved it back to the waiting / holding area
For us (Dream 11/14) it was done immediately prior to boarding the ship.

We've done three or four B2Bs. 99 percent of what needs to be done is just common sense.
This thread has morphed into a series of anecdotal vanity posts (let me tell you about my B2B).

I've found the early seating tends to attract families with children and the older crowd who are interested in going to a show and be asleep by 10.
The later seating tends to attract those who enjoy the late evening attractions such as the casino, piano bar, clubs, comedy shows ,etc.

$1.00 tip per drink every time regardless of our enrollment status in the Cheers program.

We've used a bluetooth speaker on our "large-ish" (9C) balcony several times. As long as we keep the volume at a moderate level I don't see this being a problem and plan on doing again in the future.
WiFi on The Magic
in Carnival Cruise Lines
Posted
Thats odd, I just used the search function using the words "Magic" and "wifi" and got dozens of threads including one labeled "Updated Internet on the Magic" dated August 5th.
Maybe try another browser? Good luck with your question!
