  1. I've stayed in NOLA 4 or 5 times prior to cruising and have some thoughts on where to stay and what to do. But I'll wait till the moderators move this thread to "departure ports" where it belongs as it's got nothing to do with Carnival....

  2. Recently in CC someone mentioned you need to link the two reservations. I called for our April b2b and had ours linked. Not sure what would have happened if I didn't, and the agent didn't seem like it was an unusual request. I'm really looking forward to it as well. Maybe you can come back and share your experience? :o

We were told to always link the reservations and then confirm with Guest Services if you haven't gotten B2B info by the second to last night of the first leg. The risk is that they expect you to disembark and they don't prepare your new card and such on board as part of the normal B2B practice. Pretty rare, but I've heard of it happening. We never had any issues on both of our B2B's though :) very smooth and a fun experience actually!

There is no "Linking" of reservations! I am not sure where this idea ever came up. The two cruises are considered independent cruises (two S&S cards, two booking numbers, two end-of-week statements, etc.).

The only action one may want to take is to stop by GS during the first cruise and have them place a note in your first booking.. But even that is not necessary. I've done B2B's where I did not go to GS and guess what? everything worked just fine.

I talked to GS once as to how this is done (e.g. placing a notification under your door as to customs procedures, getting a new S&S, etc.) and the woman at the counter said they run a report that shows passenger's names/cabins that are on the ship this week and next week. THAT'S IT, there is no linking!

  3. I know my wife will want the MDR for dinner, so that leaves me Breakfast and Lunch to explore the other free eats on the ship.

On a 7-day (night) cruise on the Glory, Embarkation is a lunch buffet, and no lunch on Debarkation day. That leaves 6 lunches. We will be visiting 4 ports, and have 4 excursions planned, so no lunch on the ship on those days.

That leaves me with 2 Sea days to explore the other free eats: Guy's Burger Joint, Bluelguna Cantina, Burrito bar, Chefs Choice, and Fish & Chips.

Maybe I'll have to do a light breakfast, early lunch, mid-afternoon snack before the MDR late seating. But then, where will I add the Taste Bar and Sweet Spot?

Any must try meals on the Glory?

How late are the Lunch places open? Maybe we can grab a late afternoon snack on a port day if we get back early enough.

I'd cross the Sweet Spot off my list as a place that serves "food". It might be fun if your six years old, but as a serious dining choice for an adult? Not me!

  4. Thanks for this info on the chocolate shop- it sounds like a must try. Do you know how long the tour is and whether or not they have baking cocoa?

There is no tour. It is a storefront that sells chocolate. I do believe they have some roasting equipment (it sure smells like it) in the back and you may be able to peek in, but there is no organized tour that I know of.

  5. 99% of doing a B2B is just common sense. Getting the same cabin for both legs is probably the best "hint" I can think of. Heres' some minor points:

    • Carnival looks at B2B's as two separate cruises and as such you will get a new booking number and S&S card (e.g. there is no "linking" for the two bookings).
    • The "tween-cruise" period can be as brief as a half-hour to three hours and it can be fun to wander around the ship during this period (e.g. we took a look at a cove balcony and the owners suite).
    • You may get a glass of champagne and a group pic taken in the main atrium after you return from customs after the 1st leg.
    • You may get a plate of some sweet stuff in your cabin too on the second leg.
    • Tell your cabin steward you are doing a B2B so they don't freak out when your cabin is a mess..
    • I'd suggest going down to Guest services sometime during the 1st leg and have them make an annotation that you are doing a B2B.

That's about it. B2B's are nice. Enjoy your time!

  6. What a crappy response. I hope you feel good about yourself and never find yourself knocked off of your high horse.

I believe you are taking my remarks out of content. The post I was responding to inferred the reason some people don't like these items is due to the ship and how they are made.

I asserted the reason some people don't like them is because of nutritional content and personal choice. Again, some people like such things, but I don't.

If you feel I am on a "high horse" so be it.

  7. This is funny, either somebody loves them or either they were disgusting. Guess it does depend on the ship and how they are made. Tried them on the Sunshine in October and they were a melted hot mess and not very flavorful. But on the Breeze in December the icing was solid and they weren't that bad. To each their own, that's the good thing about buffets you can try it and decide whether you like it or not. :D

I think it's due more personal choice as to one's diet.

Some people love eating such high-calorie, low-nutrition items, I don't.

  8. I don't even know what a "cake pop" is and I got off a Carnival cruise just last week.

Never got into sweets, I think I had a piece of cheesecake one night and some extra-chocolatey cake thing for the entire 10 day cruise....

  9. Totally disagree with this.

I lock my luggage, not because there is anything valuable, but because I don't want some strangers grubby hands going through my things. I may not have spent a lot of money on my clothes and shoes, but they are mine and I happen to like them.

If 2 pieces of luggage are next to each and one is locked and one is unlocked, which is a thief going to first?

    I'd take the locked one.

  10. For nearly 2 years, since April 2014, my VIFP status has been incorrect. When CCL made their past guest changes, my Gold status went to Blue and I ended up with 2 VIFP accounts. Then they tried merging them, but deleted the correct (gold) one, then gave me a different number, then I didn't exist in their records, even after 9 cruises, etc. I made numerous calls and sent an equal number of emails. I spoke with customer service reps, supervisors and even their bosses. No one was able to fix this seemingly easy to fix problem so I finally gave up. Right before Christmas I decided to book another cruise so I thought I'd tackle this again. This time I got Donald B and he took me seriously. After several calls and emails back and forth Donald got my problem fixed. I now have yet another new VIFP number but all my past cruises show up and everything is correct. Thanks Donald for fixing my problem in a few weeks after getting no results for the past year and a half.

Did you send this to Carnival? If you really want to make sure Donald gets the thanks and acknowledgement he deserves, you should at least send an email or a letter to Carnival I doubt Donald or his supervisor would read it here.

  11. Are all the ships settled for 2017? I don't see any Journey cruises or longer cruises except on the Pride? Just wondered - we are starting to think about booking for next year when we go on our next cruise but wanted to make sure. We are looking for longer and different cruises if possible. We are looking for cruising with Carnival because of stock, Diamond, etc.

    Thanks!

Not sure where you're looking but I'm signed up for an 11 day "Journeys" cruise out of Hawaii on the Legend in April 2017.

  12. Help! We are going on our first b2b cruise Feb 27 on the breeze and I don't know what to expect. Any suggestions??? Thanks.

order liquor the first week so it gets delivered at the end of the first cruise and you can drink it on the second :)

99% of doing a B2B is common sense. There are no "Tricks" or "Secrets" The only thing I suggest is contacting Guest Services during the first leg and tell them your plans. Also try to get the same cabin so one can skip the "pack/unpack" hassle of changing cabins. Finally, there is no such thing as "linking" your sail-and-sign. Billing is done as two separate cruises.

AFA Liquor purchased on the first leg for use on the second leg. No, that doesn't work anymore.

Enjoy your B2B, they are nice.

  13. Originally booked aft 6501, which I was pretty excited with considering we've never had an aft balcony before. Well cabin 8466 became available and I quickly called carnival so I could move us up. Was just wondering if anyone here has any pics or feedback on this cabin.. also this is our third cruise on the breeze, which those previous cruises we had balcony cabins in the cloud 9 spa area... so we are definatly on the other end of the ship!

    Did you try google?

  14. We had an aft-wrap on deck 6 on the Dream (same class as the Magic) for a B2B.

And while it does overlook the Lanai deck we found the depth of the larger-than-normal balcony, coupled with little traffic on the Lanai deck near the aft provided us with adequate privacy from below. Never had a problem and would not hesitate to book another aft-wrap on this class ship.

  15. Reading threads like this one makes me happy neither my spouse or I have any OCD issues. We normally pack the night before the cruise and only take carry-ons. Never had a problem with forgetting anything of any importance. I'm also guessing many people here laminate their luggage tags too.:)

Good luck with your obsession support group and see you on Lido!

  16. The weather service is predicting flood stage at New Orleans in approximately 3 weeks. How does this affect Carnival cruises out of New Orleans. Flooding is occuring upstream now and will reach NO approximately Jan. 19.

I have cruises planned for the Carnival Elation (1/18) and Carnival Dream (1/24). Anxious!!

    Rick

This will have no effect on any Carnival cruises out of NOLA.
