Glad we're not the only ones still garaging our cars - seems almost freaky now. Cars are rarely garaged, but given the size of modern cars that's hardly surprising.  Today's Polo is about the size of yesterday's Golf.

Trouble is, no cars on the drive suggests nobody's at home to burglars!

We too put our car in the garage each night and my husband will only buy a car if it's going to fit.The trouble with that is that everytime we want to go out my husband has to open the garage and remove his 2 bikes before he can drive out and then has to return his bikes to the garage before setting off. It's not surprising that we travel most places by foot, bus or train!

    Hi all

can anyone advise if you are allowed to downgrade your cabin to lower the cost of the cruise?

if so, do they do this based on the current live prices or based on what the new cabin price would have been when you booked originally?

is there a way to do this online?
    thank you

I think you would need to phone Princess to ask this and like upgrades it would probably depend on the price of the new cabin at the time of booking the present cruise.

Ah ok although I'm sure Princess has a ship going to Iceland either Azura or Britannia size.

We have cruised to Iceland on Crown Princess which is a similar size to Azura and we have previously cruised to Norway on Britannia which we enjoyed

I'm sure the prices will be competitive, but even so I can't see a balcony cabin [which the e-mail mentioned] with Princess Plus being available at £499 for 7 days.

If that is the right price, I'll be booking it, regardless of the itinerary !

I was told by someone at Princess today that there would be short cruises ( probably 4 nights) as well as longer ones and that some balcony cabin s were going to be priced at £70 pp per night but that presumably won't be Princess Plus price.Still excellent price

The itineraries for Enchanted out of Copenhagen had been changed but now they have all been cancelled completely and the ship moved to itineraries out of Southampton going on sale March 23. I don’t think they had any other Baltic cruises. The American cruisers did not think it worth coming all the way over for the Baltic without St Petersburg and were cancelling the cruises.

There is a Baltic cruise on Sky Princess in May from Southampton which has just had some changes to ports of call.I think it's just the cruises out of Copenhagen that Princess has cancelled

Ironically we have just been revisiting the idea of a coach holiday to Lake Garda. We have done some in the past and had an amazing time ........ P&O need to realise that this really is a time of change where people are reflecting on their choices. We also have a beautiful static caravan by the sea so not paying for our cruise in full when the time comes and walking away is not a big deal for us at all.

We caught the train to lake Garda and holidayed there Another time we went on a rail holiday to Lake Como.A cruise is great in that you only have to unpack once but there are places inland that are beautiful that are difficult to get to from a cruise ship.We have got a couple of cruises booked this year but the appeal is diminishing due to covid and certain cruise companies treatment of the customer

Family of 4 - We are due to go on 14th April Azura from Malta.  Booked hotel night before flights, flight seats, airport parking, dogs in kennels, it is an itinerary we have been wanting to go on, 50th birthday, belated 20th anniversary, daughters 18th and probably one of the last holidays we will go on as a family of four.  PandO have informed us that due to operational changes they cannot now offer us our cabin and have downgraded us!!!.  They have offered to refund the difference and offered additional OBC (still waiting to see what that is) or we can cancel…..  not the best news considering we are only 5 weeks away and really looking forward to going….  We had booked a larger cabin because there are 4 ‘adults’ and the cabin now offered will not work for us..

I know there are bigger things happening in the world but just letting people know this can happen.

I wonder if it's worth phoning p and o to explain your dilemma and ask if they offer an alternative, perhaps 2 smaller cabins?

  8. So sorry to hear this has happened. So disappointing for you but unfortunately it is possible for someone(the taxi driver) to test negative in the morning and positive later in the day.I remember reading that this happened to someone else on a Saga cruise in January.I think they posted about it on CC so you may be able to find the post.I do hope you get refunded and extra and that you manage to go on a cruise in the near future. Also of course I hope you don't catch covid.Take Care

Here’s something for you if there’s poor weather again tomorrow Phil - sedecordle.  16 wordles simultaneously 😵💫

I’ve just heard about it and completed my first one.  It’s not too bad - the most difficult is probably keeping track of the individual puzzles, as you can’t see 16 at once.

    Here’s the link.  Good Luck

Another one to try.Recently tried Quordle which I enjoy, less so Byrdle and Nerdle. A bit addictive

Those were the days! Scary! Amazing how many lorries were prepared to stop for students back then - university scarves paid for themselves many times over. Wife and I both hitched everywhere, in her case all over Europe, and we tried to repay that when we could afford a car. Times change, I suppose, and neither of our children ever hitched, even as students. It’s more or less died out now, apart from trade plates. More money around, I suppose.

It was also the time of The Yorkshire Ripper!!
