  1. A simple question from the OP. All kinds of responses. Maybe Regent ought to clarify, or at least make it easier to find the answer to the question.

Still waiting for that update to the Terms & Conditions.

In addition to T&C, the following are excerpts from the Ticket Contract, which is a legally binding document for all parties. The Explorer has special provisions for cancellation fees, which are clearly defined as July 20 thru Nov2, 2016. The contract says "all other cruises" (those that are not the Explorer from July 20 thru Nov 2) have other cancellation penalties. Those penalties are the customary penalties which most Regent guests already know.

Here are excerpts from the contract (bold is mine):

This is from the US Regent website:

  2. I also see that there are cabins that say they will accommodate 3 people. Are they marginally bigger or does that mean they just have a sofa bed? TIA, Linda

The suites are the exact same size regardless of 2 guests or 3. The difference is that the sofa in the standard cabins is replaced by a sleeper sofa for 3-guest suites.

FYI, suites that accommodate 3 guests have cabin numbers that end in "7".

  3. I just booked Explorer for December, 2016 and my deposit was the 25%.

We booked the Dec 28 Explorer Panama Canal cruise (Miami to LA). The deposit was 15%, although it was further reduced to 7.5% as we booked it via the Cruise Consultant onboard. Normal terms throughout.

Perhaps you should double check your deposit with your travel agent?

  4. If you book a Seven Seas Suite or above, the deposit is 25%. It is nonrefundable. Otherwise, the deposit is 15%. Final payment is due 150 days before the cruise.

The above is true for the "Inaugural Season" cruises, which Regent lists as only those cruises from July 20, 2016 thru Nov 2, 2016. The Transatlantic cruise in question (Nov 16, 2016) should follow the "normal" deposit rules of 15% for all suites, and only the $100 pp cancellation penalty up to 150 days before the cruise.

That said, Regent has not updated the "Terms and Conditions" to specifically include the Explorer bookings after the Nov 2 cruise.

  5. We are currently on Voyager and You would not have known it was Easter.

Should we be comfortable knowing that it is a special time on the ship or do we stay at home and enjoy as normal. Any comments would be appreciated.

We too are on Voyager, and I am confused by your comment.

For Easter, we observed the following:

All restaurants had an Easter display, with chocolate bunnies and decorations

A Catholic Bishop was brought onboard, even while in a Muslim country

Ray had a church service, as well as wishing everyone "happy Easter" throughout the day and on his morning show

Regent provided each cabin with a small gift box of chocolates

The dinner menu in CR included ham (a traditional American Easter meal)

Do you have other traditions which should have been considered?

  6. Now, back to the topic of this thread...

It was announced this morning on the Voyager that additional itineraries for the Explorer will be released online, probably later today. Bookings will open in another week.

From Rome (Nov 2016), the Explorer will do a transatlantic cruise. Eventually it will then do a Panama canal transit, and head to California.

    Stay tuned for details.

  7. [quote name='forevertravel']I know there was a policy for inviting guests onboard but I forgot what it is. Is it possible to invite guests at a port (not on embarkation day) for a few hours? I guess I should ask my TA but I was wondering if anyone has done it.
    Thank you.

  8. gnomie,

Assuming you're on the Dubai to Cape Town cruise in November, go to http://www.rssc.com/cruises/VOY151121/activities/regent-choice-plus-free/day-3/default/default.aspx and click on the link that says "Receive All Available Tours Via E-mail." In a few minutes, Regent will email you a complete list and description of all the excursions that you can print.

Nice! I learned something new. Thanks for sharing!

  9. Does anyone know who the social hostess is on the Voyager right now? I'm looking at a very last minute solo cruise sailing 3/27-4/13. Sailed solo last year and had a wonderful time, due in great part to the social hostess on board.

    Thanks,

    KMK

Laura Dean is currently onboard. She is scheduled to be the social hostess until the Voyager reaches Dubai.

  10. Your status is already in the system but it won't hurt to check with your TA or Regent to double check.

Better yet, just read your Regent invoice, page 3. Regent has fixed the invoices to clearly state the included or promotional internet benefits. It is listed under the "Promotional Amenities" section.

If you are a Seven Seas Society member, that is listed and your benefit for internet clearly shown. If you are concierge level and have a different benefit, that would be shown. If you booked under some marketing program, your internet promotion would be shown.

When I say "Regent invoice", I mean the official invoices generated by Regent....not a billing invoice that your TA might use as an alternate.

What is on the Regent invoice is "what is in the system", and would be the same as you will encounter onboard.

  11. We will celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary on the Navigator in April. One of the ports is San Diego and we would dearly love to invite two dear friends to join us onboard for lunch. Is this even possible, and if so, what is the procedure? Thanks for any help you can give.

  12. This Tuesday we board Navigator bound for the Western Caribbean. The website suggests the cruise is close to fully booked. The cruise packet suggests we board at 1pm but embarkation begins at noon. How early may we board? We will have seen what we want of Miami having arrived two days earlier, thus eager to start our cruise. Anything we need to know about embarkation in Miami?

    Thanks!

We got on the Navigator last week, so we will be leaving as you board. Miami terminal J is very convenient and well equipped. It is an exclusive terminal on the southwest corner of the terminal island, far away from the hustle of the north side and the mega ships from Carnival, NCL, et al.

If you are driving, there is a covered parking garage across the street from the entrance to the terminal building .....a very short walk. If you arrive in a taxi, the luggage drop off point is curbside at the entrance. Porters are usually lined up waiting for you to arrive, and will put your bags on a cart. Our luggage was in our suite before we were allowed to move in at 2:30

Once in the terminal, you will need your cruise documents and passport to proceed. You then go upstairs and go thru the security checkpoint and scanners. If you arrive before noontime, you will be asked to have a seat. You also need to fill out an Ebola questionnaire and Noro questionnaire.

The check-in process is right there in the terminal waiting room. If everything is on schedule, you will be allowed to form a queue for check-in.....usually at noon; sometimes a little earlier. Their are plenty of agents on hand, and the line moves quickly. They will snap your security photo, give you the room keys, and straight on to the ship from there. The gangway is level between terminal and ship, so there are no stairs to climb.

Hope you enjoy your cruise as well as we have enjoyed ours !

  13. It's not even Monday yet here in the Land of Enchantment and already 12 of the 16 suite categories for the Explorer's maiden and second voyages are Wait Listed. Only availability is in the two Superior and two Concierge categories.

We were in the cruise consultant's office at 8:30 AM this morning, the opening bell for booking the Explorer. As Mr Rumor stated, the maiden voyage already had limited availability, with only category E and lower having any suites available. Obviously Regent pre-sold most of the MV to dignitaries or special guests.

Anyhow, we secured the best suite we could, and will join the Maiden Voyage. Within an hour of opening, category E was gone, leaving only F.

Unless something changes, non-titanium have little chance of sailing on the maiden voyage.

  14. Well Gosh' date=' Golly Gee!

The World according to Willie will be missed![/quote']

We just learned that Willie Aames is returning to Regent....and very soon. He will be relieving Lorraine as CD on the Mariner in early January.

This is one positive from all of the recent changes at PCH. We have had the pleasure of being on 2 cruises with Willie, and he is a very personable CD. Hopefully, we will see him on a future voyage.:D

  15. Were the people called up in groups (i.e. Silver group, etc.)? If done individually, it could take the whole evening. Not sure how I feel about it. I have a pin from Radisson that I wear to some Seven Seas Society events and would probably wear a platinum pin if they are still handing them out when we sail in April.

The only couples called on stage were those who transitioned to the next higher SSS level during this cruise segment. There were 3 or 4 couples, and they were called by membership level.

Everyone else had the pins delivered to their suite on embarkation day.

  16. One new amenity has been added to the list of benefits for Seven Seas Society members (silver and above): a commemorative pin.

We are currently on the Mariner, and received our pins in Papeete on Sunday. I am not sure if they will be mailed to SSS members, or if you will simply receive them on your next cruise. The pins are very classy looking, round, and have a magnetic disc for attachment. They are similar to the Regent 20th anniversary pins, but slightly smaller in diameter. They are subtlety color coded in accordance with membership levels.

The following note was included with the pins:

    Dear Guest

Beginning with this voyage we are launching a new collection of commemorative pins for our Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Titanium guests.

We are pleased to present you with your new Society Pin, emblematic of your achieved tier level status.

We sincerely appreciate your loyalty as Seven Seas Society member and encourage you to wear your pin during our next Society Party, scheduled for....

We saw many guests proudly wearing their new pins at both the SSS and TPG parties.

  17. Please tell me where you have seen information about the Crew Welfare Fund

    gnomie :)

One such place, FAQ Regent website:

    SHOULD I TIP ONBOARD?

Gratuities are included in the cruise fare for all Regent employees. If guests feel strongly about expressing their gratitude to the crew, they should be encouraged to make a donation to the Crew Welfare Fund at the Purser Office. This money is utilized for crew parties and events.

  18. Although we are platinum members of the Seven Seas Society, we only learned about the Crew Fund

    gnomie :)

Regent hides the Crew Welfare Fund in plain sight. The CDs are very discrete about making suggestions that you voluntarily participate. But they do not coerce guests to contribute, nor try to intimidate you to donate. I have seen information about the Crew Welfare Fund on all of my Regent cruises.

  19. We are booked on the Navigator 14 day Alaska Vancouver to Vancouver cruise, departing May 20th. This cruise can also be booked as 2 7-day cruises (Vancouver to Anchorage and back), then being a 1-way trip. We booked it as a 14 day cruise however, not as a B2B.

We noted that for all ports of call the shore excursions are in the system and can be booked, except for Anchorage (Seward). For that port, no excursions have been put into the system.

Is it your expectation that shore excursions will be added to this port, or should we start looking to make plans of our own.

    Thanks

We did 2 weeks on the Navigator this past June. In Seward, no excursions were offered. The reason was given that there were too few guests remaining to make it worth the effort. Plus, Anchorage is 2 hours away by bus, so it would be a long day.

  20. We are on the Voyager this week, Stockholm to Southampton. This is the reunion cruise for Regent's 22 anniversary, and Mark Conroy is the featured guest.

The Passages yesterday included an insert with events for the week. Of note:

"Join Mark and his wife Marilyn for a festive cocktail party in our newly refurbished Constellation Theater, Deck 4 on August 9th at 6:00 pm; plus an informative Q&A session will be hosted by Mark about the soon to be built Seven Seas Explorer on August 11th at 11:00 am". The 9th is the evening for the usual Seven Seas Society party.

Maybe we will finally learn some actual details of the ship.

Mark is also participating on 2 of the Regent Choice shore excursions. So he should have casual time to connect with Regent friends.

  21. How do we go about arranging for our transfer from the ship to our 2:35 pm flight? Any information would be most appreciated.

If you like the transfer service that Regent provides, you can book that once you are onboard. It is a little pricey, but they do a nice job, usually with an escort on the bus to guide and help you. Onboard, fill out the debarkation questionnaire and specify that you wish to purchase the transfer, and give your flight details. They will put you on the proper bus.
