  1. The day we are supposed to arrive we would be the 3rd ship in port which is over the total 8,000 person capacity noted on amber cove webpage. . I just looked at Amber Cove website and it does NOT show our ship docking there even though its on our itinerary. We are on NCL Breakaway in November.

You're right, of course. But how many folks do? As admitted earlier, I don't. I highly doubt I'm in the minority, given most people stop at the bar first.

I will say, I've never counted the number of rows between the exit and my row.

That's exactly why you review it at home sober 🙂

100% agree. We all should always know where the closest emergency exit is, where the closest fire extinguisher is, location of an AED if provided, how to contact security in a hurry if needed, etc.

Taking the time to read the info on the back of your cabin door and knowing how to get to your muster station could save your life.

I was evacuated from a hotel fire in London years ago and quite thankful and I knew where the heck i was going by yes looking at the door!

  4. The new procedure sounds great to me. Watching the video at home vs. listening to someone over a loud speaker I could barely understand or hear in the blazing sun makes sense. As an avid traveler, I always count how many airline rows to the exit door and now adays, everyone should be prepared for an evacuation form any venue at any time 😞

Exactly what I was thinking.  All my travel clothes are color-coded to be interchangeable.  That's one of the things that enables me to travel for long periods of time with only carry-on luggage.  P.S.  Much as I adore my husband, I sure wouldn't consult him on matters of fashion, lol.

Whoops, wrong quote.  I meant to quote Post No. 8

I've got him and two boys age 20 and 22 so pickings are slim as far as style critique 🙂

  6. We have done both. Our last cruise to Costa Maya and Cozumel for spring break we had major sargassum issues. been to Costa Maya twice and both times not impressed. Tortola is amazing and I love St Thomas so I'd definitely go for eastern Caribbean

I have my eyes on any Haven lol...I sailed in the forward facing which i loved as well as the 2 bedroom. I do have bids on all and just hoping for any Haven suite honestly....have gotten spoiled my last 2 cruises.

We've been in 2 bedrooms and DOS and am also super spoiled. I bid on all of them except the spa suite. Not interested in that huge tub in the living area. We are already in a B1 Aft for this trip so wont be crushed if we lose out but i went all out on bids for my retirement trip.  It's a 14 day cruise so that would be amazing. Good luck to you!

So I have a Question. I have won my last 2 bids for Haven Suites, but there where always cabins available in the Haven when I have won. So we are 57 days out and appears there are 13 2 bedrooms available at this time, and 1 forward facing. Has anyone ever won a Bid for a Haven cabin that said sold out? I am assuming existing Haven Suite guests would bid from a Courtyard to a higher stateroom category. All my bids are on the high end of Fair, and hoping there is someone with some experience with winning cabins that where said to be sold out. Thanks again for all your help.

well it's possible the sold out courtyard rooms would bid on the 2 bedroom for extra space so then yes you can essentially win a sold out courtyard cabin. I'm hoping for that situation since i have my eyes on a sold out aft penthouse 🙂

  9. We reserved vibe ahead of time for the Haven a few years back ( I had emailed concierge and they had them for me in an envelope). Once onboard I realized it was waste being in the Haven and my money was refunded. This time i repurchased online but if I win my bid for Haven i will ask for a refund.

Currently booked for Club Balcony Suite on Encore leaving Jul 31. Bid for all Haven except courtyard rooms. Haven't heard anything. Only 3 days until embarkation so we're pretty sure we're not getting an upgrade this time.

Do they send email if you lose bid or would it just remain as pending?

I agree. The space is very tight for all of that furniture. They are using those tables as an extension of the restaurant. The Haven is packed. In fact, it was sold out for this cruise. I agree that it has not been the same level of Haven experience that we had pre-Covid. I also feel that they are short staffed for the number of passengers onboard. I am tipping well because I really feel sorry for the crew who are working so hard to please and do a good job. My guess is that NCL is trying to earn back lost revenue.

I bet now with all the "bidding", the Haven will sell out for each cruise ...

Curious about your plans for St. Thomas and/or why the draw... St. Thomas is a scheduled port for us in Oct, still searching for ideas on things to do.

Book a catamaran (non cruise excursion) to St John. Just don't pick one with 60 people onboard. If you have never been to St John you will fall in love. 90% of the island is national park with beaches to die for !
