  1. Hello all. My partner received a phone call today from a CVP, then a subsequent email which outlines the perks of something called Princess Promotions. Email basically stipulates that we pay one price and receive future cruise credit, onboard credit, hotel credit and stay certificates. First, I’ve never heard of this, so is it legit? And second, if legitimate, has anyone ever taken advantage of this offer? TIA

Just a word of caution about the main dining room breakfast - It can tend to be very slow.  On our last cruise we waited probably 15 minutes to place our order with a waiter and another 45 minutes before the food was delivered to our table.

This! I was recently on the Ruby, and breakfast (well, most meals for that matter) was very slow. Waited about 45 minutes for my pancakes. I was just about ready to walk out when the server delivered them to my table. I should have just left, as they were the most rubbery pancakes I’ve ever had lol

  3. Is it typical for Crown Grill to be “sold out” of dining times? I just went to make a reservation, and there is no availability. I have thought about Sabatini’s, but my spouse is on a keto diet. So, I would be eating all the pasta and bread; not that there’s anything wrong with that! I just don’t know if we would get our money’s worth, if carbs are out of the question?

  4. I have an excursion at lake Gatun which ends at 4pm. The ship is to arrive in Colon at 5pm. I assumed that we would be cleared to board when the ship arrives. Would that not be the case? Reading posts about not being able to get back on the ship for hours has me a little concerned…

  5. I received email notification that our medallions shipped on January 28th. They just arrived to us. I was surprised how quickly they got here. FYI I live in Canada.  Side note: having the medallions now makes it all feel so real. I cannot wait to head out in two weeks!

  6. Would anyone happen to know how the self serve laundry works? It’s been years since I have been on Princess. I seem to remember that you can purchase powdered laundry detergent. Would/could it be wise to bring detergent of my own?

Also, would anyone be able to confirm the price per day of the Sanctuary? Is the price per person? And is it different whether it’s a sea day or port day?

    Thanks!

    Sound funny.

Are you on a 10 cruise, 11 day?

Assuming you added the plus fare at $60/per day/per person a ten day cruise would cost an additional $1,200, 11 day would be $1,320, without any insurance which you indicated that you did not purchase from Princess. You should have received a new fare which was the original fare plus the upgrade amount. You indicated that you paid that full amount. If you used a T.A. ask the T.A. to investigate for you. If you booked directly then ask your Princess cruise planned. If you booked on line you are out of luck, you have to contact Princess directly.

I would get a copy of the Princess Booking Confirmation - Passenger Copy which should state under payment details "Booking is paid in full."

Yes we are on a 10 night Panama Canal cruise. Received new fare after the Plus package was added in. That’s why I was under the assumption that the new fare had incorporated the package.

  8. Short of contacting Princess directly, would anyone be able to tell me why I have an outstanding balance coded as onboard reservations balance? I added the Plus package after booking the cruise (months later). The total cruise fare amount jumped about $1400. I assumed that was the incorporation of the package, for two passengers. I have since made final payment, but a balance shows of just over $2000 under that heading, and it says for Plus beverage package + juice bar. Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated!

  9. I just made final payment for my February 2024 cruise on the Ruby Princess. I was looking at setting dining reservations for each night. While I know that each dining room will serve the same menu, is there any benefit of booking one specific dining room over another (i.e. better service, location etc)? If it helps any, it is just my spouse and I, and we are looking to book a table for two. Thanks!

  10. So I’m home, sick (🤞 not Covid), and doing a deep dive into my upcoming cruise on the Royal Princess. Reading about/researching cruises always makes me feel better. Anyway, I am looking to book specialty dining for embarkation night. My party and I like what both have to offer - in terms of menu selection - and it was left up to me to decide! Any ‘must have’s’ that could potentially sway my decision? I haven’t dined at either, so will be a new experience for me either way. What are your thoughts or suggestions? Thanks!

  11. Hello all,

I will be on the Royal Princess to Alaska this September. My mother, who has always dreamed of taking an Alaskan cruise, has said that this is going to be her last cruise…ever! So, I wanted to do it right! This will be our second Princess cruise, and our first time in a suite. Did I read correctly somewhere that we will have full access to the mini bar? Also, any other tips that I should know about? My last cruise was October 2019, so I’m definitely itching to get on the ship lol.

Guessing but confident JR express will have a charge.

I though the JR sit down area was being blown out for the landing area for the new water slides.  Their design is very different compared to other ships that have recently received slides, coming down to end where JR is now, or so I thought.

You could be very right about the sit down Johnny Rockets. I guess it would be dumb to have two of the same restaurants on one ship. I have never been on Royal. After a disastrous Celebrity cruise last year, I’m definitely ready for a change!
