  1. I am not much of a gambler, and do not like the idea of not being able to use cash in the slot machines, but having said that, this is my question:

My Travel Agent gave me a book of coupons which includes a match play described as a "$5 match play casino credit for blackjack or roulette table". My idea is to play the following on roulette: Put $5 on say black and $5 and the match play on red. If black comes out I get $10 my bet and the "winnings" (which is what I bet) and if red comes out I get (if I correctly understand how this works, my $5 back and then $10 more or $15, netting $5). Now I know I am out of luck if one of the zeros comes up (and if you were to see me at the roulette table betting zeroes would probably be a good bet), but is there a flaw in my "plan"?

    Thanks,

    Jim

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO FSUJim: If you bet $5 on the red and $5 on the black here is what would happen. Each of those bets is an even money bet. You bet $5 and you get back in winnings $5. With your match play which you could only put on one bet (choose which one). If you win on the red you lose on the black and will get back $5 in match play. You will win back your $5 and $5 match play if that is the one you had the match play on. You lose the other bet. IMHO Roulette is a terrible game for the player. It is great for the Casino. Good luck in and out of the casino.

  2. My next cruise it this coming Friday, 6/13 for 7 nights on Royal Caribbean Grandeur of the Seas departing from Baltimore.

Has anyone played craps on this ship and do you have any intel on what the table bounce was like and or anything else pertaining to craps play.

I'm not anticipating any problems since the 2 other RC ships I've been on have had very good craps tables.

    Thanks,

    Dicenator

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Dicenator: Have a good time on your upcoming cruise.

  3. Just off the Breakaway. I hit on the Quick Hits penny machine at max bet of $3 and won $3,328.00, and that hit was from a bonus spin!:D

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO TVLady3: Congrats on your win. You are now able to book another cruise, lol. Anyway, hope you continue your hot streak.

  4. I learned to play while on a 7 day cruise and now i'm hooked. I am not a high roller by far might play $100-200 daily. I just started to realize that there is the OPC. I always give them my card when i start to play but what do I have to do to be "rated". I don't even know if it would be worth it after seeing how other say CCl is cheap with their perk? All info welcomed and tips on playing!! thanks

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO crznnrsbty: We go on Carnival a lot and play in the Casino. Some of the better comps we have received came via Carnival Cruise Line.

  5. I had the longest role of my life last week on the gem. It lasted 52 minutes. All said and done here are the totals, thanks dicenator for the idea, it is fun to keep stats. I played a pass line with max odds and 2 come bets with max odds increasing the bet each time.

    -52 minutes

    -11 points hit

    -21 come bets hit

    -9 come out wins(8 11's and 1 7)

    -5 hard 6's hit

    -2 hard 8's

    -I don't the 4 and ten

-won $268 for the dealers with various bets

-started with $600 and cashed out $6800

    -when I sevened out I had $200 on pass 8 with $1000 odds, $150 on come 9 with $600 and a $200 come bet which I won

-the next day the pit boss told me that it was the longest role he had seen on the Gem. He watched the tape in fast forward and I rolled 287 times.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO skeeter195:Congrats on your long roll. Good luck in and out of the casinos.I don't think you rolled 287 times. For the time that you were at the table you would have had to roll the dice so many times and with the dealers making payouts such an event is not possible.

  6. I just got off from 2 weeks on the Crown, and I can tell you that I was in the casino for periods of time every day, and I only saw the craps table with players twice. It changes week to week based on the guests. The first week of my trip, the casino was very slow and closed early. The tables got a lot more action on week two....but not the craps table while I was there.

Dicenator: Sounds good for you if on your trip not many people play. You could be there with very few people at the table.Of course, if you have a good roll and draw a crowd then others might decide to play. This happens to me a lot.

  7. In general, you can expect the slot machine payback percentage on cruise ship casinos to be low. At least as bad as the big strip casinos, and usually worse. There's also no legal authority over what the cruise ship casinos can do with regard to payback percentage. They are free to set them to whatever they want. As with most casinos, they'll set a mix of different payback percentages across the casino, but all will be lower than you'd find at a good land based casino under regulation.

As to how hard it is to win or lose, well, that's about the same as anywhere else. You'll always have some people who hit jackpots, and more who don't.

As for the table games, I'm not an expert, but from what others have said, the table games also suffer by comparison to the more liberal land casinos.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO VideoTech: Table games have the same odds as in other casinos. You win and lose the same way. Odds are the same unless they do something different from how casinos operate.

  8. HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Dicenator: I was on the cruise right before you. I found the Casino to be a nice place. It was a really good place to play. The food we found to be real good and met the Carnival standard. We didn't find the inconviences that you found in there. The dealers were really nice and compatent. Although one dealer once forgot to pay me after I made a point. When they wanted me to roll the dice again I stated that I needed to get paid for my last point.

I found that some people were wearing the robes all over the ship to, however, no one actually wore it to eat. Usually it was just from the room to the pool area. Occasionally stopping off by the buffett to get something to eat in their room.

We sort of liked the interior of the ship. It looked rather nice and tastefully decorated. How did you like the color scheme of the Bacchus Dining Room on the Carnival Miracle? The Carnival line porvides a good cruise at an affordable price. They were the line that made cruising affordable for average people.

  9. If I remember correctly one is for cash and the other for tips in chips. I could be wrong though as I have only watched from a distance and don't play the game

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Gunner22aa:This sounds correct. I used to work in a Hotel/Casino.

  10. Lately I've been thinking about betting against the dice and mention 7 every chance I get and throwing the dice off the table.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Grandpaul: You are entitled to bet whichever way you want at the table. Try that, who knows, you may get lucky.

One time I was playing at the Flamingo Hilton in Las Vegas. I was betting the Pass Line taking odds and making Come bets with odds. I was losing. Then I decided not to fight the dice. I bet the Don't Pass. I won all the money I lost and a little more.

  11. I used to roll the dice, and always ended up with 7's after the come out roll. So I gave up on rolling years ago.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO reedl:I won't call that a superstition. Just bad experience. However, for all you folks who want to hear another superstition: If seven is mentioned at a table it will come out soon. When playing at a table with a lot of older players watch, after the dice leave the table see who calls off odds bets and/or place bets.

  12. What are some of your superstitions while gaming/playing?

    Mine

Not ordering a drink while actively playing craps.

Placing a bet after a number hits a few times. 3 hard 10, I place a bet on 10 and will 7 out.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO goldwinger88:There really isn't any correlation between any of the superstions and playing casino games. Some things could be explained away and have been given a superstious belief in. Example: high fiving the shooter if he makes a point. You would probably disturb the shooter from his routine and break his pattern thus causing a bad roll.

  13. I hit the casino on the first night of our last cruise and did really great- winning $96 off of $6 on one machine and then another $40 on others.

However after that it went downhill. I would win small amounts but overall couldn't get my luck back. A machine that would do bonus after bonus for me the first night would go on and on without a single bonus.

I'm wondering if they loosen up the slots the first night to get people in... Or am I just a wishful unlucky lady? LOL

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO dkc1973: You were most lucky winning like that on the first night. If you read these boards enough and hang around the casino enough there is no correlation as to winning the first day of the cruise or the last. Or someday in between. Slot machines make money for the House. What you should do is learn to play some table games. You have a better chance at winning and it is more fun than just sitting in front of a slot machine. By the way, I do play some Video Poker so I am not totally against slot machines.

  14. I have a question for anyone here who has worked craps tables. On my upcoming cruise, I expect the table to be lightly patronized - often I am the only player. So, they only open one half of the table. I am strictly right-handed and prefer the RS1 ir 2 position. If they open the left half, is it a bad breach of etiquette to ask them to change to the right half, or should I just play on the open side?

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO AndyTheK:I have had a similar problem on several cruises. Most times they accomated me. A few times they didn't. Just have to roll with the punches.

  15. Player....1X odds best return???? You are paid even money on the front line bet and the TRUE ODDS (No house advantage) on your odds bet...take as much odds as you can afford......THE HOUSE HAS NO ADVANTAGE ON YOUR ODDS BET.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO LSTEFFA: There is a mathimatical explaination for this which at the moment I don't have the time to get into. I will have to do this at a later time.

  16. Being a poor working stiff with a limited bankroll, on the EPIC which I recall had 3X odds, I decided to play 1X on the PASS LINE and place the 6 & 8 to spread my investment and increase my opportunity to win. Seemed to work for me.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO cruzincurt:Believe it or not, I too am a working stiff. Since none of us has an unlimited amount of money we all have limits on our bankroll. According to a dice expert 1X odds give you as a player the best returns. When you start moving up to 10X and 20X odds the player doesn't get a good return on it. I have a book where it is explained in Mathimatical terms. Very dull reading.

  17. What are the usual minimums on RCL? I am headed on the Oasis next month and am interested. The single odds don't make me happy and as a result I have been practicing my blackjack. I am a dice junkie though and am sure I will find myself rolling the dice some.

    Thanks

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO ItsOnlyMoney1126: You should play craps on the Oasis even though it is only single odds. If you get on a good roll it won't matter what the odds are. Remember, you could make Place Bets too. Those don't require any odds portion and remain the same regardless of what the odds are.

  18. Hi guys ,what a great thread , I am from Dublin Ireland and we dont have craps in our casinos. I am a poker player myself but after my last couple of cruises on RCI that poker pro game just sucks.

You cant beat the feel of cards and chips with a bit of banter at the table.

I refuse to play that mechine and from reading this thread craps sounds good so i have checked out the lessons on you tube and form reading this thread It will be my game of choice when i travel in NCL Jade in July.

The main reason is the social aspect of this game seems to be my kind of game.

I am by no means a high roller so what do you guys think of my basic game of playing the min on the pass line with the odds behind.

I was thinking of placeing the 6 & 8 and increasing to the other numbers if i win bets.

my big question is when do you take money out?

If the shooter rolls and hits my numbers do you let it ride or do you pull the win to the rail to build your bank roll and just leave the original bets down?

Im a compleat newbe so im not sure if i have all the terms correct .

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO IrishMac: Your game sounds decent. What I do is take off my winnings from Place bets for the first four times. That way you have some winning money. Then I would double my bet and take three wins off the table. Then increase my bets again on the next hit. If two points are made then I would increase my Pass Line/Don't Pass bets. Of course, increase odds too.

  19. We were on a European cruise and this lady at the bar complained because "these damn foreigners can't speak English!" She was American and was too stupid to realize that SHE was actually the foreigner! I was embarassed for her. No wonder some people think we Americans are "ugly".

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO mousey: I used to live in Europe for a few years during the '80's. When I lived in Europe I found that most Europoens when they found out I was an American wanted to speak in English. Most places that you go to English is spoken with the exception of many areas of the United States where folks don't like to speak in English for one reason or another. The sad thing is that I found that Germans spoke English much better than most people I know from the United States.

  20. HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO fellow posters: I agree with the prior three posters. You could believe in dice control or not. The people who have been successful with it have been documented. You could believe it or not. Dicenator, keep posting reports of how you do in the casino. Don't let a few folks that are losers ruin it for you.
